"Anybody who has ever been in a political contest with her will tell you
she's no pushover." Barack quote with Brian Williams. Barack's subtle tone insinuates that he understands that it is over. His speech after NC was conciliatory, overall, I think he is holding out an olive branch, confident of his nomination.

1. I thought it was more condescending than conciliatory.
But then Obama has always been one to look down his nose at people.

9. no
No, he's just getting what's due to him, given his ancestor's having suffered generations of abuse.

14. I think you might want to rephrase that
Women have also suffered generations of abuse, along with other "non favored peoples".

But yes the "uppity" comments are pretty damn grating so I can understand how you might want to say something like that in anger. Don't fall into the race baiting garbage trap. Don't let them pull you in! Just call them on their shit!

19. Are you serious?
So, Obama is owed the presidency because slavery existed in the US? BTW, his ancestors were not slaves since his father was not American but from Kenya. So, why is he due the presidency?

Besides, women have been just as oppressed and for thousands of years, not hundreds.

21. Obama
I was trying to very subtly point out the cultural and social rift between him and his core constituency. Yet his supporters coddle him and see race-baiting everywhere. I don't know if they do him a service, to tell you the truth. When I see Obama on TV, I see a confident leader, much as I see Hill. But here on DU, everyone's so defensive of him, in an aggressive way. We don't seem to elect victims in this country.

Please don't confuse trolls with HRC supporters. It just muddies the waters.

Thanks!

13. What's the difference?
Edited on Thu May-08-08 06:21 PM by RC
It been hard to tell them apart the last few months.

This is an honest question. Far too many Hillary supporters here act like reality challenged right wing nuts.

It used to be I thought Hillary and Obama were mostly 6 of one and a half dozen of the other. Then Hillary went negative against Obama. That is when she lost me. Obama was the only decent candidate running after that.

5. You've got to be kidding me
I agree that some of the behavior of Obama's supporters at DU and elsewhere in the blogosphere has been distasteful over the past two days, but Barack himself has shown nothing but class when talking about his opponent. He has not called for, hinted, or insinuated that she should drop out, and he has praised her tenacity. What more do you want him to say or do?

8. Next you'll be saying Obama should "wait his turn" and that he "can't win white voters".
Right around the corner, you'll find "uppity", right next to the nice people with the white hoods.

12. Its unfortunate that your thread got hijacked
Obama has a very subtle use of language.

Very subtle.

So subtle I don't think most of us really get what he is talking about.

I don't have any secret readings but I think he has more to say about how we need to change if we are going to be effective in governing and not just winning an election.
