What if it's all just one big lie?
Edited on Thu May-08-08 11:47 PM by Skip Intro
"The real truth of the matter is that a financial element in the large centers
has owned the government since the days of Andrew Jackson"

Franklin D Roosevelt
US President, 1933

3. Jefferson saw where this was headed and tried to warn us...
"I am convinced that those societies (such as the Native American peoples) which live without government enjoy in their general mass an infinitely greater degree of happiness than those who live under the European governments. Among the former, public opinion is in the place of law, & restrains morals as powerfully as laws ever did anywhere. Among the latter, under pretence of governing they have divided their nations into two classes, wolves & sheep. I do not exaggerate."

"The modern theory of the perpetuation of debt has drenched the earth with blood, and crushed its inhabitants under burdens ever accumulating."

"I hope we shall crush in its birth the aristocracy of our moneyed corporations, which dare already to challenge our government to a trial of strength and bid defiance to the laws of our country."

"I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. Already they have raised up a moneyed aristocracy that has set the government at defiance. The issuing power (of money) should be taken away from the banks and restored to the people to whom it properly belongs."

"The system of banking we have both equally and ever reprobated. I contemplate it as a blot left in all our constitutions, which, if not covered, will end in their destruction. I sincerely believe, with you...that the principle of spending money to be paid by posterity, under the name of funding, is but swindling futurity on a large scale."

"To take a single step beyond the boundaries thus specially drawn around the powers of Congress is to take possession of a boundless field of power, no longer susceptible of any definition. The incorporation of a bank, and the powers assumed by this bill have not, in my opinion, been delegated to the United States by the Constitution. They are not among the powers specially enumerated."

"I wish it were possible to obtain a single amendment to our Constitution - taking from the Federal government their power of borrowing (from privately-owned corporate banks)."

"We are undone, my dear sir, if legislation is still permitted which makes our money, much or little, real or imaginary, as the moneyed interests shall choose to make it."

8. That was prophetic...
Seems Jefferson's warning was used as an instruction manual.

4. Roosevelt is right on the money.
I'm not sure even all of our representatives understand how deep it runs.

I first learned of it when I read about the captains of industry (competitors) who came together to form and implement the Federal Reserve so they could control the country to ensure their continued success and profits.

in the OP, it should be easy to find parts 2 and 3. Stunning, isn't it?

9. If you're a Ron Paul supporter, you got to see the corruption up close and personal
First, I am an Obama supporter. However, I think that it was a complete disgrace how the Republican Party and Fox News (especially in the debates) treated Ron Paul. They undermined his candidacy from the get go because he was against the Iraq War. They didn't even try to hide their disdain for him during the Fox News debate. And now Ron Paul supporters have refused to fall in line with McCain's fake conservative values. I think it's obvious that the party system in our country is corrupt, on both sides.

11. I've bookmarked the YouTube clip --
will settle in to watch in all its entirety later on today.

Thanks so much for posting it!

The book I read was The Creature of Jekyl Island. If you're interested in reading it, here's the link to amazon (although it's not as though you need to be convinced -- you already 'get it')

http://www.amazon.com/Creature-Jekyll-Island-Federal-Reserve/dp/0912986395/ref=pd_bbs_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1210336953&sr=8-1

What is ultimately so frustrating is that it never HAS been BY the people, has it? We've been manipulated all along.

6. There's no what if
It has always been this way, since long before the United States ever existed. The first step to changing it is to recognize it for what it is.

7. Probably few here on DU could "out-left" me.
But the last time I viewed this sort of anti-Federal Reserve rant, I found much of it to be bogus. There was a lot of all too familiar thinly-disguised "right-libertarian" propaganda in it, and a few fabricated quotes of famous personages. This was just the sort of stuff that fueled the anti-Semitic and pro-Nazi movements in the thirties --- Father Coughlin, G. L. K. Smith, and the Silver Shirts.

I've been up all night and ready to pack it in. Later today, I'll check it out in entirety. But I suggest all here who watch the entire series, to refrain from accepting it uncritically. Stop at frequent intervals and research. Remember: Google is your friend.

12. This goes beyond Hillary AND Obama -
it's systemic.

I happen to agree with you about Hillary but she's a small player.

So I have to ask you, after watching that, do you think Obama really could do much to change it?

23. What could he do?
Seriously.

Don't give us "it's worth a shot" - tell us.

He can't do anything because a) he doesn't WANT to and b) his party won't let him.

Corporate Red, Corporate Blue - save for the superficial it's one big happy money tent.

He knows what the payoff is if he plays by the rules - I'm waiting for Billy C. to get invited in to Carlisle.

It's coming - he was a good boy, took the "abuse", waited his turn.

Now tell us all the things Obama has said to make you believe that when his turn comes at the money wheel he'll say "no thanks."

This ain't Jimmy Carter's Democratic Party anymore.

So give it what you've got.

13. It's a history of lies both small and great...
...all in service to America's only true god, capitalism. It predates even Andy Jackson's time in government, being a holdover from England's feudalism, so even FDR is not giving us the whole picture.

16. Most people do not know this:
Every year, the US Govt. pays the central/foreign banks $250-300 billion a year in interest payments.

If that's not owning the government, I don't know what is.

Hopefully that will reach a lot of people and help us all begin to wake up. Don't know quite what we'll do then, but...

22. Of course what Roosevelt said is correct
Edited on Fri May-09-08 10:02 AM by DaDooRonRon
It is one of the reasons I am no longer beholden to major party candidates.

They won't change anything.

They CAN"T - they're respective parties won't allow it.

And quite honestly, they don't want to.

It saddens me to see all this false hope for change based mostly on smiling faces and wonderful oratory.

The under the radar stuff is what matters - you need to look deep in there and not jump like Christmas morning children when somebody give you a sound bite you like.

It's not going to change folks - it really isn't.

Not unless drastic steps are taken, and folks are willing to fall backwards in order to move forward. It don't mean shit if you watch the clip and then vote to continue what you find objectionable.

Remember, only now are you finding out what the Clinton's are truly like. It was like that before as well, only the mastermind could dazzle you with smiles and cute phrases.

NAFTA, don't ask don't tell, welfare "reform" - who do you think THAT benefited? You? Me?

Hardly.

It was paying the bill when it came due, and the same debt collectors are lurking over all the mainstream candidates.

It's your own fault if you borrow money from them.
