***** Breaking News - More Super Delegates Announce for Obama Updates
JUST AFTER MIDNIGHT EASTERN TIME ADDITIONAL SUPER DELEGATES BEGAN TO ANNOUNCE FOR OBAMA

INCLUDING ATLEAST ONE PROMINENT AFRICAN AMERICAN CONGRESSMAN WHO HAD LONG SUPPORTED CLINTON

OBAMA NOW JUST 6.5 SUPER DELEGATES BEHIND CLINTON COULD CATCH UP TODAY

As confirmed by DemconWatch - the most reliable authority on all delegate matters

http://demconwatch.blogspot.com/2008/01/superdelegate-list.html

1)Rep Payne NJ Super Delegate Defects from Clinton to Obama
http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2008/05/congressman_payne_nj_superdele.html
Congressman Payne, NJ superdelegate, switches from Clinton to Obama
by Robert Schwaneberg/The Star-Ledger
Friday May 09, 2008, 12:05 AM
Rep. Donald Payne (D-10th Dist.), a New Jersey superdelegate who had been supporting Hillary Clinton for president, has switched his allegiance to Barack Obama.

"After careful consideration, I have reached the conclusion that Barack Obama can best bring about the change that our country so desperately wants and needs," Payne told The Star-Ledger for today's editions. It was "one of the most difficult decisions I have made," Payne said. "I've really been mulling it over for quite a while."

With Payne's switch Obama has the backing of five of New Jersey's 20 superdelegates. Clinton has 11, including Gov. Jon Corzine; three are uncommitted and one who has backed Clinton is wavering.

By announcing his support for Obama now, Payne said he hopes to help unite the party so it can focus on defeating Sen. John McCain, the presumptive Republican nominee, in November.

2) Rep DeFazio (OR) Endorses Obama

DeFazio throws his support to Obama
Posted by Jeff Mapes, The Oregonian May 08, 2008 22:21PM
Tonight Rep. Peter DeFazio became Oregon's third Democratic congressman to endorse Sen.Barack Obama, putting the Illinois politician one delegate closer to the presidential nomination.

DeFazio said that Obama, who will begin a two-day campaign trip to the state Friday morning, "represents our best chance of winning in November."

"We must not allow Senator McCain to continue the failures of the Bush foreign policy, war in Iraq and disastrous economic policies," DeFazio added.

Sen. Ron Wyden is the last Democrat in the delegation to remain neutral. He has said he won't take sides until after Oregon's May 20 primary, although his chief of staff, Josh Kardon, is heading Sen. Hillary Clinton's campaign in Oregon.

Reps. Earl Blumenauer and David Wu had earlier endorsed Obama while Gov. Ted Kulongoski and Rep. Darlene Hooley had endorsed Clinton. All these elected officials are superdelegates who automatically attend the Democratic convention and can vote for whomever they want.

Because of the closeness of the race, the superdelegates hold the balance of power in deciding the nomination.

OBAMA NOW UP NET 15 SUPER DELEGATES SINCE 5/5

INCLUDES TWO DEFECTIONS FROM CLINTON AND 2 SDS FOR CLINTON

OBAMA NOW BEHIND CLINTON BY ONLY 6.5 SUPER DELEGATES

9. I actually think she is done, wrapping up some fundraising and out after KY and WV
It would look bad, make it hard for Obama to move Hillary supporters if that were to happen(IE if she dropped now and then win)

I also think that is why Nancy Pelosi made a shift in saying its still ongoing and talked about Democratic growth so freverently,
as well as Obamas victory lap / non campaigning at the house yesterday.

27. He takes the current projections of pledged delegates and divides them up according to latest polls
then the Huckabee Index is the number of additional delegates - either super delegates or pledged delegates over projection that he needs to confirm the nomination if he continues to win the remaining elections as expected.

The idea is that when it hits zero any reason for continuing has as much sense as Huckabee for continuing.

None

1.Smashingly inept. Gaudily arrogant. Great theater! Three Stars!!

2. I found it crowded and confusing with too many themes going on at once.
Would not shop there again. One Star.

3. Good visually but distressing sound track. Could not follow plot.
Supporting cast of mixed ability. Not a good remake. One and one-half Stars

She will never have more than 270 SDs in her column. The number goes down from here.

That great flushing sound you hear is ... well, a great flushing.

The only question now is how far she takes this personal game of Chicken. Can she get out of the toilet before she is flushed down the drain?

Edited on Fri May-09-08 11:44 PM by caligirl
longer 10%. Hillary,it turns out did not win Ohio by 10%. She won it by 8% and maybe a smidge extra. Obama picked up 26,000 + votes after all the provisionals were counted. Its over at DK. I'll look around for the link.

Here:

According to unofficial old results on RealClearPolitics.com and thegreenpapers.com, the race was won by Clinton 1,212,362 to 982,489 for a difference of 229,873 (or 10.4%).

The new official results are 1,259,620 to 1,055,769 for a difference of 203,851 (I had to add the districts up individually since I couldn't find statewide totals anywhere). That's a change of 26,022 toward Obama. The lead for Clinton is at a final margin of 8.8%, so I guess she didn't get that double digit victory in Ohio after all. Looks like there were lots of provisionals and absentee for Obama that didn't get counted on election night.

West Virginia is also coming up. With 660,000 resgistered Democrats and assuming a huge turnout, we get about 300,000 votes. If Clinton wins by 20%, that's a 60,000 vote margin. She's already lost a big chunk of that (26,000) with the Ohio official update. That's means the popular vote totals won't change much after West Virginia vote on Tuesday (for those who are even paying attention).

UPDATE
For those of you asking, there were just under 100,000 provisional ballots accepted out of 123,000 cast. So yes, this change is reasonable.

Wow... first time on the rec list. I was just passing time on a lazy Friday afternoon at work. I hope someone double checks my numbers. ;-)
(hattip to northhanger for verifying the numbers from the SoS site)

UPDATE2
For those of you who are curious, the West Virginia Democratic primary turnout in 2004 was 252,000.
