Conversation between two Hispanics in FL and NY about the Democratic race

Person #1: My dad. Mulatto Dominican, 53, former Edwards supporter who was backing Hillary until recently- he's now for Obama, after months of thinking that the "black guy" was not going to make it. He lives in FL.

Person #2: My uncle. Mulatto Dominican, 66, very strong Hillary supporter, anti-Obama. He lives in NY.

#1: Who are you gonna vote for? You are a Democrat, right?

#2: I'm for Hillary.

#1: Hillary? Man, she just lost. Obama won it already. Vote for him.

#2: I'm not voting for that nigger. I'm voting for McCain if Hillary loses.

#1: Nigger? He's half and half! What the hell are you talking about? What's up with that racism?

#2: I'm for Hillary, man. I'm not voting for that nigger. If not her, McCain.

#1: Man, think about health care. Look, Hillary is so selfish- she's in it because she wants power. She's hurting the party nominee. If you are a Democrat, you vote for the Democrat... It's gonna be the Clinton years all over again if she wins. Forget about her. Everyone here that can vote, my wife and my son, are voting for Obama. He's a new and has great ideas. Don't be stupid.

#2: Are you guys really for Obama? Are you guys crazy?

#1: Crazy? You're crazy. You prefer McCain to Obama, and you are not thinking about the war we are in and the state of the economy.

#2: Hillary or McCain, that's all.

#1: Oh well...

This conversation took place just a couple of minutes ago. Sad, but it's true.

The shift began in the 1960s and completed realignment by roughly 1980. Since then, no Democrat has won Mississippi since Carter. If a person isn't going to vote for a person because he's black, chances are the Democratic Party has been dead to the person for a long time now. They can go ahead and join the Republican Party.
