2. Single most important trait: Deliver something to Democratic nominee....
... that a Democratic nominee wouldn't be able to get for himself or herself.

Jim Webb and Bill Richardson come to mind.

5. A Charismatic, No-BS Warrior
Edited on Fri May-09-08 12:11 PM by MannyGoldstein
This would:
1. Counter McSame's big positive.
2. Reinforce the notion that Obama will get us out of Iraq.

6. McCain and Romney tipped the repuke's hand with their "Hamas endorses Obama"
Typical repuke tactic. Then when they explain themeselves to the shocked listener they talk about Obama's lack of experience and the threat of terrorists. Clark will blunt all of that, with his outstanding Resume.

8. I voted for impressive resume and experience, BUT...
I think it would be helpful if they also HAPPENED to be white and possibly female. Military experience is highly desirable.

I think Clark or Sebeilus (sp?) are good options.

20. If you folks want to unify the party
he needs to pick Hillary. THat's going to be our price for getting off our duffs and working to make Obama the president.

You have no other option!

10. The Veep should
Enhance the 50 state strategy by drawing flyover America's support.
Someone like Sebelius.

Or they should be a strong populist like Edwards.

18. Pelosi philosophy: Whoever can best help him govern
I agree with her. Bush chose Cheney because Cheney could best help him govern. Govern evil, but still govern. Obama should pick whoever he feels most comfortable with helping him to do his job as President. Most people assume that the purpose of the vice president is to help win the ticket. Even if that's a purpose, it's secondary at best. History shows that people vote for the top of the ticket, not the bottom of the ticket. It's useless having a vice president who could help you win the Presidency but not help you do the job.

21. Be a white male
That oughta satisfy the hardworking, uh, white American demographic. :eyes:

Cynical, but sadly true. Having an AA man at the top of the ticket is a big venture out of the comfort zone for many. A white male in the VP slot would be "reassuring."
