IF waiting until the convention were to ABSOLUTELY GUARANTEE that McCain wins in November, would you still want to wait until the convention to declare the Democratic Party's presumptive nominee?

In other words, is "process" more important to you than result?

I'm not sure there is a choice right now. Should I choose the lesser of two evils like every election since 2000? Where is the Democratic leader?

If there was a choice on the ballot of "none of the above", I'm sure that would win and we could go back and pick a leader who is for what we Americans want and deserve.

Otherwise your vote literally does not count in the selection of the President.

However in extreme cases I can understand someone making a different vote as a "statement", but the problem is, NOBODY hears that statement. The only time that came close was Perot in 1992. (And many people I know who say these sorts of things, called that election a choice of "the lesser of THREE evils.")

Anyway, only if a huge number of people - an effective movement - employ such a strategy, will it get any attention as a "statement". But meanwhile, the more evil of the evils got elected. So now in practical terms you have more war (even if only marginally so), more corruption, more taking away of personal rights, more destruction of the environment, and so forth.

Your "statement", even if heard by the media, will have NO effect on the composition of the Supreme Court and the rulings it makes, after the next President chooses one, two, or three Justices to replace those retiring.

I can't discern your political priorities but if you are somewhat liberal, and have read up on McCain and Obama's positions and voting history, then you realize that even if he fails miserably at all the wonderful stuff he speechifies about, the Justices that Obama is likely to appoint are more likely to support personal rights than those that McCain will appoint. And you will realize that Obama will be more likely to veto any egregious bills that come to his desk from Congress (like DOMA). And Obama won't veto bills that improve social welfare (even if not perfecting it), such as the expansion of SCHIP.

Is preventing a hard right turn of the Supreme Court and the laws in this country, worth having to cast a vote for someone you think otherwise won't make a very good President?

We get lectured yesterday on how we "better be nice to Hillary supporters" I came to DU this morning without logging on and seen like three flame bait threads from Hillary supporters but "we better be nice to them" I got that person on ignore but please ignore if you can see this fuck off mmmkkkkay.

He was picked by the DLCers and the Chicago Tribune to be the candidate for Senator and President. That is not a good thing in my eyes. He sways back and forth on issues such as the war, NAFTA, etc. He says and does everything to be "what you want". Hope you get what you want because I'd love to be wrong.
