4. I think that's the most reliable count.
It's also the one DailyKos has at the top of their page. Clinton up by 1/2 superdelegate.

3. It's All Estimated - Here's A List...
According to AP, the score is Clinton 271.5 to Obama's 271. (How do you divide a delegate in half? Actually, you don't. Superdelegates from the community of "Democrats abroad," those party members living overseas, have been given half a vote each by the party.)

Others are giving different scores for the superdelegate sweepstakes. Some say Obama already has the advantage. Some examples:

• The New York Times says Obama is ahead, 266 to 264.

• ABC News' Jake Tapper gives Obama a 267-266 advantage.

• The Politico says Obama is in front, 270 to 268.5.

• CBS News says Clinton leads 271-270.

The estimates vary mostly because there is no "official" count. These media are basing their projections on combinations of announcements from superdelegates and the campaigns, and surveys that reporters have done of superdelegates.

What is not in dispute is that Obama enjoys a solid, 164-or-so lead in the total number of superdelegates and is about 165 delegates away from having the 2,025 he needs to be the nominee according to the Democratic Party's current rules

5. Obama's 33 pledged delegates short of clinching the delegate lead.
Can he do so on superdelegates alone?

11. Obama is in the lead on pledged delegates by around 150
You need 50% of ALL delegates plus 1 to clinch the nomination. There is NO WAY for HRC to beat him on pledged delegates barring a complete implosion of Obama's campaign. That he is now competitive on superdelegates is bad news for her - she needs a higher share of them to win.

Another interesting point is that Obama is ahead on superdelegates who are elected officials. The only category Clinton is ahead on is superdelegates who are party officials.

he COULD clinch the delegate lead at the VW primary, even if Hillary does win big!

17. He could
I assume that by delegate lead you mean 50% plus one of the total delegates, which equals the pledged delegates plus superdelegates - meaning that there are not enough left for HRC to get the lead even if she wins all of them. (There is still the problem that superdelegates can change - though my guess is that once Obama hits that number, it becomes beyond unlikely that it would happen. The perception will be that he IS the nominee - it would take something massive to change that and it could not come from anything POSITIVE HRC did or any negative with Clinton fingerprints on it. In addition, any Clinton Super delegates won by arm twisting may desert when it looks like they no longer have the power to hurt anyone.

12. Research, try it.
There is no nationwide official count of pledged delegates, either. Nor is there a nationwide official count of hybrid "popular" votes. Are you suggesting that there is no way to discern which candidate is leading and/or won?

Speaking of swapping, you might do some research on that. Swapping is already taking place, almost without exception they are switching from Senator Clinton to Senator Obama.

8. Superdelegate endorsements are left to the interpretation of the source
That's why different sources have different counts. There is no official nationwide count of superdelegates. However, most sources agree whether certain comments made by superdelegates are considered an endorsement. That's why each source's count is so close to other sources' counts.

Need to get your news some place else. Brit Hume of Faux noise likes the site
Their poll data is taken from other sources and is accurate, but their editorial
slant is Right Wing Republican..

Obama is ahead.
