"In Obamaland, Wright and Ayers are not problems, Michelle is an asset,
no one perceives Obama as an elitist, and those purple states are all going to turn a lovely shade of blue.uh huh I say stay tuned for contrary evidence in November."

Something else to bloster the fact that obama and his campaign played the race card and then with a willing whoremedia blamed Hillary, and sad to say it worked.

In the Left blogs today, it is considered a mortal sin to point out that Barack Obama has trouble connecting with white working class voters. It is a mortal sin to point out that in the South Carolina campaign, the Obama campaign fed the narrative that the Clinton campaign was race baiting. Indeed, the Left blogs themselves led the charge with this smear, notwithstanding the fact that it was utterly illogical. In South Carolina, the last thing the Clinton campaign would have wanted was African American voters rallying to Barack Obama.

150. If I ever make it to Oregon or you make it to St Louis, It s a deal!
I've been anting to go to Oregon for about 16-18 years. In what seems like a lifetime ago, I used to "build" though freight trains though the Portland area for the Union Pacific many many years ago, and always wanted to see the place. We had a yard at Bridal Veil, and had a camera thee (to check car numbers on incoming and out going trains). Every so often, when it malfunctioned I'd see the falls in a badly pixelated Black and white shot, and always wanted to see it in person.

81. Actually Hillary had more money in the beginning but did not manage her
money as wisely as Obama (is this an example of how they they would work as a president?). Buyers remorse...I don't think so. Hillary played to the "blue collar workers" and it worked because they fell for it (an insult to her followers to feed them that crap knowing that they would take it). Now why do you think that the "blue collared workers" of Oregon are not falling for it? Oregon is a very "White" state and Obama is very ahead in the polls. Why are the "white" superdelegates going for Obama? Obama's speech on race says it all. It is time to mend differences and move on. We need to all work together to make this UNITED STATES a better place. If we were all the same what a boring place this would be. Lets accept that we have differences and work together for common ground. Come on everyone GROW UP!

168. I've been canvassing in small town Oregon and found many
blue collar democrats. Some of them will not vote for Obama because he is "Muslim, black and unpatriotic" but many of them are voting for him because they didn't fall for the smears. I was very impressed that they were able to sift through the main stream media (many don't have computers) and find the truth. I have found in Oregon that the people are far from elitists. To me an elitist is someone who only thinks about thenselves and thinks they are better then others. That is a term that should be used for republicans. In my 15 years of living in Oregon I don't think I have met one liberal elitist but most of the republicans I know I can put in the elitist category.

15. Mortal sin? No, arguing to weakness
"In the Left blogs today, it is considered a mortal sin to point out that Barack Obama has trouble connecting with white working class voters."

Say what you will, it is a fact. However, Clinton has problems with young people, African-Americans, and college educated party members PLUS party-leaning Independents. A Harvard study in April - after the story broke - shows he still leads McCain in those areas as well.
http://www.prnewswire.com/cgi-bin/stories.pl?ACCT=104&STORY=/www/story/04-24-2008/0004799607&EDATE=

Clinton is a weaker candidate. Why are you suggesting the party put forward that weakness?

42. Hey goyim! Look at the blatant racism!!
Also, so sayeth the nut: Ben isn't a nice, accomodating schlub. (That might be somewhat true, but he's hardly a schmuck or anything like that.)

For those of you non-cognoscenti, yiddish is a version of low german, and "schwartz" is german for "black". The beat goes on that Jews are inherently anti-black with the help of posts like this, and somehow that's just fine with this particular member of the self-proclaimed downtrodden.

Here's a hot one for ya, nut: Jews are outnumbered by blacks in this country about four to one, so comments like this make you the brutal oppressor. Blacks are outnumbered by everyone else about seven to one, though, so you can still simper for pity and grant yourself immunity from the rules of comportment that the rest of us mere pluralists accept. Only the grown-ups will be annoyed, and many of them seem to have gone elsewhere of late...

This isn't any way to make friends.

Ben is rather pro-Israel and pro-Clinton, but I see NO evidence whatsoever of ANY racism.

always saw rabbis and priests, white and blacks and everyone walking together on those long hikes. it was awesome, it was life affirming to watch people of all persuasions and colors marching together. Jews fought as hard for black civil rights as blacks. the history is there. that is what makes it so sad to see asses like this saying everything but the n word about Obama. He's against history and he's against decency. Say it, bendavid. You will feel better and everyone will know your heart.

automatically vote for Obama that did Hillary in. Until they started with their drug dealing insinuations, their Hispanics don't like black people, Jesse Jackson comments, the black community was standing by Hillary.

After that, the black community began to reconsider the Clintons' committment to equality. Since then, Hillary has only made it more clear that she will use anything, including racial division, to scare up votes.

26. In Clinton land, the country has been longing to put Bill clinton back into the White House
and doesn't see that where in 1992, they were the bright articulate couple who could bring hope and newness to America sick of Bush and his boring, corrupt ways. The reports that the Clintons twisted the arms of superdelegates and threatened to essentially sit shiva for those who wouldn't follow them blindly - means they are now what they vowed to fight and remove.

Obama did not make Bill Clinton say things that people saw as race baiting. Putting together a list that summarized what was said - and even giving it to the media - is not wrong. It is in fact what the Clintons themselves spoke of needing to do on whisper campaigns against Democrats, Had there been no pattern of this, the list could not be made and would have been immediately rejected. (Take the same time period and try to create such a list for John or Elizabeth Edwards or Biden, Dodd or Richardson - you can't do it. You might find a comment or two that would look bad, put in that light - but that's it. )

While it's true that the Clinton's knew this could rally the blacks in SC to Obama - he thought it would spin off the white support for Obama in SC and elsewhere. He could then spin off SC's vote for Obama as atypical and based on the proportion of blacks in SC - pointing out that applying the SC % to the nation's demographics shows HRC much stronger than Obama. (Those calculations were all over the internet - even though they implied that SC whites are identical to all whites - and they themselves will tell you they aren't.)

The war and economy IS...I don't give a shit about this. Pappy Bush was meeting with the Osama Family on the morning of 9/11. No one seems to give that much thought.

Obama isn't Wright, or Ayers, and neither men are running as President. Let's try concentrating on the real issues. Clinton is mathematically out of the running, we have our presumptive Nominee, lets concentrate on getting him elected with plenty of coat-tails to keep majority in both Senate and the House...m'kay?

if you think every piece of clinton drama from the 90s won't be brought up and beat to death again in the general you are seriously delusional.

ps- i've never uttered that woman's name on DU before. I think its trashy as all hell, but its also a reality that Clinton supporters seem to be blind to. Everything and anything that can be drudged up from the 90s will be. You know the RNC is sitting on a file a few hundred pages thick on ammo against her.

And this time, it won't be about Bill C's penis, as you so vividly describe. It'll be about Hillary's "family values." Bet on it.

82. Obama took the high road on ALL of the Clinton's 90's drama, so what are you talking about?
fringe internet supporters (which i believe is the category people on DU fall under) don't really count. And not even they have been talking about Monica. I invoked her name here for one reason and one reason only: to illustrate that the Clintons and Clinton supporters are deathly afraid to acknowledge the 800-pound-gorilla in the room, which WILL be beaten like a dead horse in the general if she's the nominee. You think the Rev. Wright stuff had legs? Its NOTHING compared to what they'll throw at Hill. And if we're getting into Bill Ayers territory, lets not forget that Bill has his own Weather Underground problems.

I'm not trying to smear anybody here. Its called a reality check.

96. Obama *pretended* to "take the high road"
When in fact, Clinton's right-wing generated "negatives" were a key initial talking point from Barack - Hillary was damaged i.e., "polarizing" and would unite the opposition because of that history.

Obama thereby shamelessly used the effects of the right-wing attack machine to his advantage - pure treachery for those who know the history.

99. revisionist history, maybe.
her negatives were a fact of life that she wasn't going to be able to escape no matter who her opponent was. you'd be crying foul if this was john edwards, joe biden, anybody. and i do know my history-- Obama has always talked about unity--on HIS terms. He's never gone out of his way to point out Hillary's negatives, they are just conventional wisdom. She was thought of as calculating and loose with the truth long before anybody even knew who Barack Obama was. These were points that she and her campaign did a fine job of underlining over the course of the campaign. She did that, not Obama. Hillary herself was the one who needed to fix that particular problem, and lieing about being under sniper fire certainly didn't help her case.

She's a polarizing figure. But, has Obama ever come out and said that? No. He's said he can unite the country unlike anyone else can, and he has a perfectly legitimate right to make that claim--especially since its absolutely true.

You're taking out Hillary's inherant flaws on Obama when you really need to be looking at Hillary herself. She is responsible. He is not.

100. Of course Obama has called Clinton "polarizing"
And of course, it's always slickly done.

"Well, I think there's some history there, not all of Sen. Clinton's making," Obama told the program's host, Bob Schieffer. "But I don't think there's any doubt that the Republicans consider her a polarizing figure."

http://www.upi.com/NewsTrack/Top_News/2008/02/03/obama_clinton_a_polarizing_figure/5795/

And here once again, Obama uses the right-wing attacks against Hillary:

"Democrats will win in November and build a majority in Congress not by nominating a candidate who will unite the other party against us, but by choosing one who can unite this country around a movement for change,"

Imagine a Democratic candidate using the vicious right-wing assaults against a fellow Dem - something Obama has certainly done. Factor in the constant smear campaign against Hillary's integrity and honesty, and it becomes clear just what has propelled Sen Obama: surreptitious assaults on character, and alignment with right-wing slander.

And this says nothing of malicious whisper campaigns of "race-baiting."

for this reason. I was pretty surprised that they wouldn't vote for Hillary because of her "cheating" husband. 102. Still missing shots at the foul line long after the game is over, I see...
The game is over. The audience has left. There's a bigger game now. Maybe you missed the buzzer and the end of the game last week.

103. You are going to be supporting Obama after Clinton bows out, yes?
We need to be directing our bile at McCain, lest we have four more years of Bush in the White House.

109. Sorry BenDavid. You lost your credibility.
You've been posting the "no one will vote for a black man" posts for months now. It's pretty clear that that is your belief. I never imagined that the KKK could make inroads into the Jewish community. I hope it's just you.

155. Well remember, he said if the DNC does anything that helps Obama...
“we are ready to bolt the democratic party and support McCain.” http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x5524880

Deep, and disturbing racial hang-ups this poor devil has. And he appears to have come totally unhinged in recent days.

Which is really saying something considering the body of work. :(

Heard this from an acquaintance with connections in so-called "moderate" Repuke circles, (once worked for Arlen Specter in his Philly office when he used to live in PA.)

She will be smeared right before the election re: her thesis.

If she is smart (and she is) she will address this before September. The best defense is a good offense.

If Bill's problems aren't relevant, why is Michelle's thesis? What about Mrs. McCain? She won't even release her tax records.

153. Beating republicans has to do with pulling
republican swing votes which is not a given.Raise tax,s ring any bells? If you automatically assume that the country will swing towed a change for the sake of change ,than think again.Restoring party unity is just part of the problem. If change isn't good enough on voting day in November than we lose the white house.Thats the problem.

She's an incredibly smart and saavy woman. She said a thig or two that's controversial? I didn't see the big deal. People who can't understand that a lot of us aren't so proud of our country right now are living under a rock.
