BTY, The DLC IS a part of the real enemy. They need to be dealt with also. Hillary is a member of the DLC.

But I'm an "anarchist" rather than a "bolshevik", and ideological purity/conformity is NOT my primary obsession. So in behalf of what appears to be at least a third of our DU, I repeat: "Let it go!", and concentrate on November!

are not in truth Republicans. The DLC are DINO's which means they are part of the problem this country has been having since Nixon. They cannot be ignored if we really want to get this country back to some kind of respectability and fiscal responsibility.
The DLC is partly responsible for the war crimes in Iraq and Afghanistan by supporting bu$h's war agenda. In other words they are a large part of the enabling and protecting the terrorists in the White House and must be dealt with if we wish to see the country recover from the bu$h administration.

"Let it go"? Not if we want to survive we can't

Not by any stretch. Just consider the records of their chairmen.

Michael Steinhardt resigned in disgust, saying Bill Clinton had reverted to his old "liberal" ways. He went on to found the NY Sun, the city's newest conservative rag. By 2000, he was a Bush backer, enthusing that Dubya was just what the country needed.

Joe Lieberman's trajectory doesn't need to be recapped, we all know it. Look at him today, standing outside his party (it IS his party, he quietly re-registered a while ago) supporting McCain for president.

Evan Bayh's reaction to the Howard Dean insurgency of 2004 was to grouse that the party was being "taken over by leftists." Howard Dean, ex-DLC centrist! Bayh banded together with a clutch of other "New Democrats" to form yet another short-lived DLC offshoot, with a website larded with assurances that not all Democrats were crazed hippie types.

The new guy, Harold Ford. Chris Shays is facing a fierce challenge from well-funded Democrat Jim Himes. Ford told a crowd of 600, "There is not a better Congressman in Washington than Chris Shays." You'd think Ford's recent defeat by the GOP's "Harold Ford likes white wimmens" slime would've cooled his ardor for Republicans, but like a true DLCer, he'll happily fuck a Democrat for the GOP.

And that's just the behavior of their chairman. Nevermind that they provide public platforms for the likes of Ed Kilgore and Marshall Wittman. Nevermind that they've internalized every smear against Democrats from the Birchers through Atwater and use them from inside the party. Nevermind that they're a nest of neocon hawks, who provide no more justification for their stance than "muscular" bellicosity is necessary for electoral success.

What organization in its right mind would put up with such treachery? What they do falls waaaay outside the "big tent" rubric, yet here they remain. And they've once again poisoned another campaign with their Southern Strategy, liberal-commie-baiting, warhawk posturing madness.

Happily, this time around, they've lost. They won't go away, and idiots around here still defend them, but their torch bearer has just gone down in flames.

Yay for us. For once. And fuck that talk about "ideological purity."

On edit: Want to make clear, I'm not busting pnorman's chops. "Ideological purity" just happens to be the inevitable retort by DLCers here to any dissatisfaction with a DLC-approved candidate's stances. It's a phrase that sets me off.

I feel that I've explained my position to a satisfactory degree; presumably you feel the same way about yours. We might as well let this go no further, and leave it to the others here to make up their minds on this. But can we both agree on this: "GO, Obama, GO!"?
