1. She's DLC. If Obama chooses her, that should stop the outrage about Hillary being DLC.
It doesn't make me any more predisposed to voting for Obama, though, on that basis. I think he'll choose a father figure type for veep, or one will be chosen for him.

2. Bitter much?
The father figure swipe was not necessary. The one will be chosen for him is disgusting.

7. Yes, he'll need a father figure type as VP.
You do understand that one of the problems people have with Obama is his perceived youth? You are also aware that the choice of veep is usually not by the candidate, but by those already in power. How do you think GHW bush ended up with Reagan? Reagan couldn't stand him.

You're overdoing the "bitter" comebacks on DU. Chill.

4. I don't despise everyone in the DLC... they have a bad history and made bad policy choices
the old definition of centrism gets revisited and revitalized minus the corruption

I think even the DLC can grow and change...

If I'm not mistaken, Gov Napolitano achieved her station using public campaign financing...

she can be DLC till the cows come home with my FULL ADMIRATION

If you think people are going to stop scrutinizing the DLC and the institutionalization of the effect of money from Transnational Corporations on our Electoral Process.... JUST because Obama picks a running mate that IS DLC... you're dreaming.

Oh, you don't really think that do ya? Of course, it's a rhetorical question... just another way of screeching "thou hypocrite" in advance of the fact...

nice try.... as they say

EPIC FAIL

5. The GOAL of the DLC is to move AWAY from populist positions. Good? NO WAY
Choosing someone like that would be an indication that his campaign was a slogan. Might as well be HRC.

9. the bottom line is how his campaign was funded
this is a ground up, Velvet Revolution... utilizing top down, philosophical shifts in the Executive Position

If Obama was as openly progressive as he probably is... he would be watching the debates from home, drinkin' beer with kucinich and edwards...

one step at a time... whoever is VP, it does NOT mean that his campaign was "just slogans"

relax now... it's gonna be ok... it's ok to oppose Sebelius... BUT.. and don't you DARE tell the opposition I said this... I will defend my candidate with flame throwers...

How do YOU think Obama got positive press in a War Profiteer owned media?

MSNBC = GE = Nuclear

Kansas wants it... we want Canadian water too...

now, does Sebelius make a bit of sense? I don't like it... he wasn't MY first choice... but he's what we have.

Even if she wasn't DLC... I don't think she's had enough national exposure...

k?

She is definitely my choice too. Kathleen Sebelius stands head and shoulders above Hillary in all facets. Also I believe many women, as well as men, would be proud to cast their vote for a woman of her stature. She would definitely assist in delivering the West and Midwest electorate.

But be prepared for the "too much change" meme that will come out of the media who will surely push for an older, White male.

Does she appeal to latinos and the working class?

Could she actually bring Kansas?

I'm a bit weary of this ticket. Could be ok, but i'm not totally convinced just yet.

35. She has a lot going for her. Importantly - NOT a Washington DC politician.
It would be very smart for Obama to pick as his running mate a Governor with Executive Experience. Better than having a ticket with 2 Senators on it.

Sebelius' gender is a plus and putting her on the ticket would send a powerful and positive message to a lot of women who voted for Hillary in the primaries.

It's not that Kansas is important on its own. But as a symbol of reaching out across all 50 States and bringing together blue states and red states.

Foreign Policy experience is not the most important criterion for VP, if we can have Biden or Kerry as Secretary of State, plus Wes Clark as Secretary of Defense.

31. She's a MILF!
i'm a bit young but i think she's kinda hot... but seriously, i doubt she will be vp because this represents too much change for America to handle and a bit corny for the O team to choose her since the obvious reason she is being chosen is because she is a woman....i wish she had some hardcore Foreign policy experience because then she would be justified...i strongly doubt the O team will have her on the ticket and will jsut resort to Webb or Clark.

36. I wasn't sure it might be her until I read this in Wiki - this is SO Obama - she is his female match
Edited on Mon May-12-08 08:50 AM by FLDem5
1994 she left the House to run for state insurance commissioner and stunned political forecasters by winning — the first time a Democrat had won in more than 100 years. She is credited with bringing the agency out from under the influence of the insurance industry. She refused to take campaign contributions from insurers and blocked the proposed merger of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas, the state's largest health insurer, with an Indiana-based company. The decision by Sebelius marked the first time the corporation had been rebuffed in its acquisition attempts

I have to say, I thought being a Governer from Kansas, she would be fairly conservative, but the more I read, the more I like her.
