5. actually that was after the second round of voting
Edited on Mon May-12-08 08:15 PM by dsc
In the first round, Romney, who came in second in the GOP primaries, came in first with McCain and Huckabee dividing the rest. McCain gave his votes to Huckabee (all but the few holdouts you have listed) and thus Huckabee won big, but barring that it would have been not all that far off the other competative GOP states.

11. I remember that
McCain was around 20% and Huckabee around 30% however the McCain people and Huckabee people both hated Mittens and decided to give Huckabee the win. McCain was still in 3rd though.

The Mittens people were up in the air on the news crying foul all over the place.

29. Actually something strange happened in the WV caucuses
Edited on Tue May-13-08 12:36 PM by thewiseguy
McCain had a pretty good support in their caucuses but it turned out that he was going to come up just short. So the McCain people advised their supporters to switch and support Huckabee in the second round of voting so that Romney would not win.

First round of voting had 1- Romney 2- Huckabee 3- McCain

WV was a winner take all state I believe and McCain's closest competitor was Romney. So all the McCain people went ahead and voted for Huckabee instead to deny Romney of getting delegates.

36. He knocked Giuliani out in Florida.
Romney won Maine after McCain won Florida.

Plus, even though it was on Super Tuesday, the results of WV were known by 3 or 4 that afternoon.

WV also has more people than Maine, just for the sake of pointing it out.
