Come on, people, the reason we see coverage of the WV primary is simple.
1) Hand-wringing: my GAWD, what is she trying to do? Is she mad? Is she this disconnected?
***Nutshell: they get to look down their noses at her, and the media love to look down their noses at people who are smarter, more powerful, and wealthier than they (see Gore 2000).
2) Race-games: Oh, gee, why did Obama lose by such a big margin here? Oh yeah, because these are working-class whites. Gee (more hand wringing), will this be a problem in the General? I mean, what's wrong with these voters? And why does Clinton stoke these flames?
***Nutshell: we the media are educated whites and can, once again, show our enlightened status by looking down our noses at yet another voting bloc. Double-bonus: we get to project our holier-than-thou-ness by wondering aloud if all the rest of America is as enlightened as we are not to be bothered by a black candidate.
3) We are just big, fucking ass-faces who are paid too much for creating stupid fucking narratives that the all-too-eager hungrily lap up.
***Nutshell: the media have really sold their souls. They all make too much money, attend to many cocktail parties, and consume too much of their own circle-jerk narratives. Unfortunately, telling from the inane emails I receive on a daily basis from family and friends, they have an enthusiastic audience.
4) Faux news is the top cable channel, and Billy Orally is the highest rated cable news show.
***Nutshell: God hates us. Kill me.

1. What else are they going to do on a Tuesday
Edited on Mon May-12-08 10:26 PM by Jake3463
They are milking this for all its worth.

Too bad 5 seconds after the polls close they are going to have to call it and lets be honest the only reason we listened to those blowhards for 5 hours last Tuesday was because Indiana wasn't called till 1 in the morning. If they had called both at the same time we would have turned something else on or gone to bed.

In reality people like us are the only ones who watch that shit. Their combined viewership is what 7-8 million Americans? Average American will read it in the paper the next day.

3. Clinton can't win in any way:
When she stomps Obama, they'll say, isn't it sad how she holds on? Why is she doing this? Why do these white working class voters reject Obama? Is this good news for Yahweh McCain? I mean, these West Virginians like straight talkers and buck the obvious trend. Just look at it, like Hashem McCain, they're rebels; they go against the norm.

When she wins, they question why she is trying to destroy Obama. They'll make her into the Lady MacBeth who looks forward to 2012.

If she wins by only 20 points, the math will be utterly meaningless, and they'll again question her sanity.

By the way, during this entire time, they are PRAYIN TO THEIR CORRUPT BLOOD-SUCKING GOD that she tries to knee-cap Obama with some bullshit story. It would be a two-fer: claim to be outraged that Clinton the crazy, do-anything to win opportunist is so transparent in her desperation; then, run the bullshit charges against Obama for days on end. McCain can denounce the charges so that the media can run them yet again, mock Clinton, slime Obama, and praise Jehova McCain.

4. even simpler than that
There's a primary there tomorrow, and it's in that state, and they need a story.
