Isn't It Lovely How People Can Still Say Confidently That They Will Not Vote For A Black Man
and how pundits can say people won't vote vote for a black man all in aid of their...analysis? Isn't it wonderful that a man is still being judged by the color of his skin and not the content of his character?

:sarcasm:

1. This is simply another sign of a failed civilization. We won't be in this misery
for too much longer.

after which a lot of that crap will never ever ever be spoken aloud again.
(it may take a few more generations before it's permanently eviscerated from personal attitudes)

5. screw em. The best thing about old, racist white people is they are dying everyday
and being replaced in the voter pool by 18 year olds who were raised in schools with members of every race, creed, religion, ethnicity. Not to be too nasty but the three members of my family from South Carolina and Georgia who had donned white sheets in their past are dead and no longer voting. Replaced with three cousins and a brother who have married outside of our race. There is hope, just give it time.

8. I hear "I can't vote for a WOMAN" on many days.
You can't force people to grow the fuck up and select candidates based on ISSUES.

Some people vote because they like, or dislike, the way the "wife" looks--because the First Lady job is clearly more important than, say, STATE or DEFENSE....some people won't vote for a Jew. Or a Catholic, or a Mormon--name your faith-based poison.

Many people are just STUPID. There's no cure for it, save education.

And that takes work.

12. Quite True
And as the poster above points out the younger ones are carrying less of this type of baggage, and baggage it is because it weighs you down

10. The majority of Americans say they won't vote for an atheist
Where are the pundits expressing outrage about that?

11. We haven't overcome...
yet.

I figure we'll start to overcome on November 4, 2008.

Then, come January 20, 2009, everybody who jumped off the overcoming bus will be dragged on board because we're overcoming whether those who fear people who do not look like them like it or not.

1.
We shall overcome
We shall overcome
We shall overcome some day

CHORUS:
Oh, deep in my heart
I do believe
We shall overcome some day

2.
We'll walk hand in hand
We'll walk hand in hand
We'll walk hand in hand some day

CHORUS

3.
We shall all be free
We shall all be free
We shall all be free some day

CHORUS

4.
We are not afraid
We are not afraid
We are not afraid some day

CHORUS

5.
We are not alone
We are not alone
We are not alone some day

CHORUS

6.
The whole wide world around
The whole wide world around
The whole wide world around some day

CHORUS

7.
We shall overcome
We shall overcome
We shall overcome some day

CHORUS

15. There are almost twice as many people who won't vote for a 72 year old
As opposed to a black man or a woman.

16. I Believe Those Concerns Are Based On Physical Ability
and have been heightened by the gaffes he's made and the lack, so far, of his medical records. Also, memories still loom of Raygun's second term where there have always been suspicions that he was not physically up to the job and one had to wonder who was actually running the gov. Now if HRC was to run again in 2016, I would not at 68 or 69 consider her too old for the job.
