Not to be too nasty but the three members of my family from South Carolina and Georgia who had donned white sheets in their past are dead and no longer voting. Replaced with three cousins and a brother who have married outside of our race. There is hope, just give it time.

You can't force people to grow the fuck up and select candidates based on ISSUES.

Some people vote because they like, or dislike, the way the "wife" looks--because the First Lady job is clearly more important than, say, STATE or DEFENSE....some people won't vote for a Jew. Or a Catholic, or a Mormon--name your faith-based poison.
