********BREAKING*********** Obama to speak in Portland on May 20?
I just heard from the local Barack Obama campaign office in Beaverton, Oregon that Barack may stage a large downtown victory speech in Portland, Oregon where he will somewhat emphatically declare the primary race over at the same time a LARGE contingent of super delegates fall to his side of the column.

Knowing this, Clinton advisers are discussing a plan to haver her suspend her campaign or even drop out at that point when she wins Kentucky and before Oregon results are official.

This is exciting, folks. We may be only 1 week away from all this internicene squabbling to be over with and draw the focus on McCain.

8. Oh man!! That's great! I live in Olympia and may drive down for this.
Can anyone who has been to an Obama event give me advice on how far in advance I should attempt to show up to this? I'm really wanting to see him in person and I haven't had the opportunity yet!

13. I tried to get into 2 different events earlier in the campaign season
We waited in line for over 3 hours at one, and over 4 hours at the other. Wear comfy shoes, and bring bottled water and snacks for during the wait.

27. Go several hours in advance and look for clipboards or important staff
Then ask if they need volunteers for anything. You will have to work but you will often get to meet him afterwords. That's what happen to my daughter and I recently, we even got two pictures autographed (one for a friend who has a son in Iraq that Obama graciously wrote a several sentence thank you on. We also had front row center seats and I was able to secure seats for my inlaws in the second row.

We can have an Oregon DU hookup. I am in the Portland area, where do you think he will appear? I also have some serious camera gear so we can get some photos.

42. because she's trying to get the results to stand as they are
which WON'T HAPPEN! THAT IS SO MINDFUCKINGLY UNFAIR to Obama campaign who played by the rules that it's not even worthy of a Democrat to suggest--let alone for the Democratic establishment to even entertain.

17. they have already implied that in this speach he will assume the title of
winner of the pledged delegates and the prsumptive nominee.

He needs only 150 delegates to reach 2024 and has probably 100 super delegates lined up to jump in bewteen now and Tuesday.

I would expect 6-7 super delegates a day from here on out.

20. Damn I wish the DOXA film festival in Vancouver were a week earlier!
Edited on Tue May-13-08 02:46 PM by calipendence
Then I could have used the labor day monday holiday to travel back to San Diego, and the trip I'm taking through Oregon to Vancouver could have been a week earlier and I could have seen more friends in Oregon and seen the primaries too when people weren't gone for Labor Day Weekend! I'm guessing I know right where he'd likely speak, though perhaps that might be a bit small for the crowd that likely will show up there. I'll be there in Oregon just a week too late! (grumble!) Though if anyone wants to have a beer on the following Sunday or Monday and talk about what happened, I'd be game for that!...

But then again, need to go see Kill the Messenger up in Vancouver on the 31st!...

35. I'm sure it would be a downtown hotel
or other medium size venue. I am STOKED. Spring will be well and truly here in Oregon....and we will have the FIRST EVER African American nominee in any major political party's history.

There's still time for Hillary to rehabilitate her reputation.

Kind of like the misspelling on another thread of Clinton last night! :) Always interesting how the greatest page doesn't pay attention to your subject line edits and keeps the original post's text in it.

26. Back in the day,
which would be 1969, I had to take a typing test during a job interview with the University of Portland. Even though I wasn't a good typist, and typed "University of Potland", I was offered the job. Or, maybe it was because of it!

31. I would love that! I'm planning on going to Portland for vacation this summer.
I'm from NYC and love it here, but Portland has become my adopted city, even though I've never been there. And I feel like I know the people of Oregon--they're the type of people that vote for Obama! Barack will win the state by 20 points.
