5. If you support the attacks on WV then it is because of sexism
or hatred of whites or any other bigoted remarks similar to the attacks on WV voters for Hillary.

9. Except exit polls show that 20% of WV voters said race was an important issue for them.
Edited on Wed May-14-08 11:49 AM by Drunken Irishman
And most of them voted for Clinton. I doubt you'd even find a double digit number like this for Oregon using gender instead of race.

Why is that not Hillary "closing the deal" (they'll go for her anyway)?

Why do we "care" about Oregon? Sorry, Oregonians, you have a pretty state. :)

33. I don't think much has changed since the beginning of this campaign
Each candidate is winning the states they were expected to win months ago. There have been few surprises. It just so happens that Obama wins in many more states. However, it looks like California and Michigan might go for Obama now according to new polls.

34. Because O Now Stands for Obama
It seems like 75% of folks here in Oregon have O hats, shirts, coats, umbrellas, backpacks, baby strollers, socks, and car decals. (Sorry Beavers) The O must represent Obama. What other explanation could there be?

Barack the vote.

36. OK, I'm trying to come-up
with a serious response. The trouble is, the real question isn't why she can't win in Oregon, but why she won anywhere. The war vote, the Iran threats, the NAFTA connection, the disgusting campaign...people in Oregon see all that, and they contrast it with Obama, and the choice is so clear. There is nothing unique about Oregon that explains it; it is just common sense.

Though I expected her to make some inroads with the "latte drinkers". If recent polls are any indication, she's gonna have to work to make inroads to that "hybrid drivers" demo if she wants to remain viable. At least she's polling well among the "Birkenstock wearers".

:)

39. Balanced Media

Only a small percentage of the American voting public watches the 24 hour news networks. Most only get 20 minutes of national evening news a day.

90% of their news comes from the radio, local newspapers and local TV.

In huge regions of this country that 90% is 100% rightwing. So 95% of the news they get is "Muslim Obama is a Scary Black Man".

In Blue States like Oregon we have plenty of rightwing news sources. But we also have plenty of real news sources. So you have to really work at self-censoring to avoid hearing counter arguments to the rightwing propaganda. In Oregon half the media is telling them that "Muslim Obama is a Scary Black Man" while the other half is telling them that's a load of horse hockey. You have to be willfully ignorant to continue believing the lie. And most people are not willfully ignorant.

And, so, Obama wins.
