This is why Obama is BRILLIANT (Timing of Edwards Endorsement)
It makes me laugh to hear all of the Clinton supporters who think that Obama just tripped & landed in the position of running for President. "Because he's black".. "Because he gives good speeches".. "Because he appeals to youngins".

Nope - it's because he's BRILLIANT. He's known for weeks that he would get creamed in WV. Instead of spending time or money worrying about it.. he strategically campaigns where it makes the most sense, and where he can get the most bang for his buck.

Ohh - and when Edwards called him sometime last week or the week before (It certainly wasn't in the last day or two) to tell him he's finally decided to endorse him - Obama's team was very smart. They knew they'd be pounded in WV... what better way to change the front page of the news then to have one of the biggest endorsements of the year waiting in the wings?

I think Obama's very smart.. smart enough to beat the Repugs in November. This is just another example of the strategy people he seems to surround himself with.

So, I guess goodbye is overdue.

15. There is no way this wasn't planned to a TEE..
And as much as I wish Edwards would have done it 2 months ago.. you almost have to wonder if this isn't actually better to have it now? I wouldn't have thought so back in March - but who would have thought that this would drag on so long?

The Rs with the help of the corporate media devolved political discourse to gradeschool checkers from the early 90s until now ... BO is playing chess, he is thinking 7-8 moves ahead all the time, not living in the moment ...

Albert Arnold Gore, Jr. endorsing Barack Hussein Obama.

And speaking as a former Edwards supporter, I'm very pleased with the endorsement.

23. He plays to his strengths...
Which is more important - spending Huge amounts of $$$ and then still lose WV by 35 instead of 40+, or focus on OR and win by 15 instead of 8?

The spin after losing by 35 is identicle to losing by 40+ - but at least the pundits can't say "Obama out spent Clinton 3 to 1 and still got beat".. they can only say "He didn't try and he got creamed". In Oregon he's going to win.. but now by a few more points then he probably would have.

That's just plain smart campaigning!

44. Matthews rightly pointed out only a few AA have EVER made it to Senator/Gov
So since this is the first time a viable AA candidate to lead this country appears, it's not a matter of racism. AAs aren't the ones with the history of voter suppression, Jim Crow laws, etc.

37. Just to give you an idea of how tight the
Obama Campaign is working in Oregon -

We've gotten a few calls about voting for Obama. Earlier in the week, someone called to remind us that "one of your mail-in ballots has not been turned in". Wow ~

Just 2 days ago, a woman from the Obama Campaign stopped by. She wanted to make sure our mail-in ballots were turned in.
She found out that one of our teenage kids is planning to vote for Ron Paul (don't blame me ~ one of the other kids tattled on the other). She was concerned, and asked us to "talk to him" make sure he changes his vote in time.

And the Repub party is up against THESE PEOPLE?
There is no way, no way they will win against Obama.
These people are like an army...an incredibly efficient army.

43. Nope...
I mean, it might have given him a 5 point swing.. MAYBE. Perhaps 5% of the Edwards voters would have gone to Obama.. but honestly - in a headline sense, what is the difference between a 41 point loss and a 36 point loss? The next morning it's all the same - BAD NEWS. Plus, some of the pundits would have just gone on and said "I wonder privately if Edwards regrets his endorsement now that he's seen how well Hillary did with Blue collar voters". They can't say that now.. not at all.

By holding off until this afternoon - he just made the headline totally disappear... and that was a much bigger plus!

45. Actually.. it is - if for no other reason then the headlines it stole tonight.
Dodd, Biden.. heck, no one other then Gore at this point would have made such an impact.

Will it changes VOTES? No - probably not all that many.. but let's remember - at this point, Obama really doesn't need many more of those. He just needs this primary to end, and Edwards endorsement does much more to the "behind the scenes" votes that still count - the Super Delegates.

53. it was one of the smoothest moves of the campaign so far
You just know heads were exploding at Team Clinton yesterday afternoon as Obama and Edwards stole the stage from Grandma and Grandpa Clinton, just as they were prepared to be the NEWS all evening.

They're still running their 1996 campaign, and he's still dancing on their heads. They have been outsmarted at every step of this campaign by Obama, who makes them look like the rubes they are.
