And, personally, I would like an apology from those Hillary supporters who started off with the nasty personal attacks on Obama supporters here. Blanket apology is acceptable.

As an Obama supporter, I have been called an elitist, a cultist, a kool-aid drinker, and the victim of an empty-suit flim-flam man who mesmerized me into doing his bidding.

And you know what? In the great scheme of things, it doesn't matter - and it doesn't matter because I never took it personally. It was about passion for a candidate, it was about a desire to win, it was about fellow Democrats sharing a vision of a better country, but disagreeing about who was the better person to bring that vision to fruition.

I don't feel that anyone here owes me an apology for anything - and believe me, I've had some very vile things said to me, and about me, on this board.

But I appreciate that it was NEVER personal, regardless of how vitriolic it got - on both sides. I am truly happy that others (as those who are weighing-in on that thread) understand the distinction as well.

But until she is not a candidate for the nomination, don't expect the Hillary supporters here to be all kum-by-yah and hugs and kisses.

... if I sounded 'preachy' (which, I guess, I did). And yes, I have weighed-in on a few "sweetie-gate" threads myself tonight.

But as I said, (to me, at least) it doesn't matter. What matters is that we come together behind a great candidate - a man who, IMHO, is destined to be a great president.

The way I see it, the sweetie-gate insurgency is in its last throes - and that's like real last throes, NOT Cheney-style last throes.

I stopped replying to any Clinton Supporter and simply added them to my ignore list... to remove all temptation from adding fuel to the fires by responding.

(I did add to one "sweetie-gate" thread, but only to add a bit of humor to it).

I know that we will need the Clinton supporters soon. I hope they see the light and come on over on their own accord. I certainly do not want to push them into either not voting or (yuck) voting for McSame. But at the same time, we have been here before (a couple of times now) when Obama supporters went out of our way to extend olive branches to the Clinton camp... prime example was right after Wisconsin. And not only was the olive branch snapped in two, we often pulled back bloody stumps.

So... until Hillary is done with this race and has made a statement to that effect (and to support our nominee, Barack Obama) I think this is premature. Plus, I've come to the conclusion that Hillary is now playing for 2012, which is why we won't see more than a very tepid support of Obama from her or her more ardent supporters. That's just the way I feel about it.
