The Tennessee rethugs are starting to attack Michelle Obama
What I am not understanding is, how can someone else tell you how you things? What Michelle Obama said was clearly taken way out of context!

<<snip>>

http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/05/15/michelle.tennessee/index.html

In a preview of the political onslaught Michelle Obama may face in the fall, the Tennessee Republican Party unveiled a Web video Thursday highlighting her comment that she was proud of America "for the first time in my adult life."

The way they twist the meaning of her words is crazy to me!

"While Mrs. Obama has trouble being proud of the country where she earned degrees from Princeton University and Harvard Law School and then became a multimillionaire, her husband makes statements that belittle average Americans' response to the difficulties of life."

1. Tennessee is solid republican anyway, isn't it?
So why do we care??

And why bring this here?

6. I care:
1. Because, I believe this is one of the main reasons why the country ended up with Bush serving a second term. John Kerry had too much of a "do nothing" attitude. When he was being "Swift Boated", and called a "Flip-Flopper", I believe he could have had addressed it a whole lot better than he did.

2. Democrats are so pre-occupied with attacking each other, that incidences like these are going to fly below the radar until it is too late.

That is the reason why I posted this, to bring this to light, and to let people know that the "wrong wing" is starting their attacks.

24. Well
They took her words out of context, on purpose and since when do we create ads targeting the wives of candidates? Some things should be off-limits.

Should we start creating attack ads on Cindy McCain's refusal to release her tax records, her criminal background, the fact she committed adultery with John McCain while he was still with his disabled first wife, and her addiction to and theft of prescription drugs? I'm sure these matters are relevant in the minds of some people so why not just put it all out there?

3. There is a rumor going round that the GOP has "better" tape of her.
At Trinity. Doing a Wright.

Don't know if it's true. We'll find out after the convention, is my guess.

10. Oh, pardon me. I forgot. Only fawning, uncritical adoration is acceptable here now.
Gotcha.

14. It was her opinion
There was nothing odd about it, people have different perceptions about things.

16. The entire quote
"...for the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country because it feels like hope is finally making a comeback..."

The Obama campaign clarified her remarks later:

"Of course Michelle is proud of her country, which is why she and Barack talk constantly about how their story wouldn’t be possible in any other nation on Earth. What she meant is that she’s really proud at this moment because for the first time in a long time, thousands of Americans who’ve never participated in politics before are coming out in record numbers to build a grassroots movement for change"

28. I hear Mrs McCain was terribly proud when she stole prescription drugs
from her own nonprofit medical relief organization. This one's a piece of cake. With extra frosting on it.
