Is Chelsea Clinton ever going to run for office?
Regardless of which side you are on in this primary, I think we can all agree that she has campaigned honorably for her mother. She has not had an easy task: she has the job of pushing her mother's candidacy on college campuses, which is the heart of Barack Obama's base. Yet she has campaigned ably, with dignity and an impressive knowledge of the issues.

She might be a strong candidate for the House or Senate someday.

1. I think it's pretty clear that Chelsea has no interest in seeking political office
Nothing she's done in her professional life leads one to believe she has any interest in it. She has a huge aversion to the press- can't say I blame her, and her career path is not one that looks to be compatible with running for office. I'm sure she's happy in the choices she's made.

2. Other than campaigning around the country for over a year, you mean?
Surely you must agree that this event could be a life changing one for Chelsea.

12. She's campaigning for her mom and yet she's made it clear that
she has no politcal ambitions of her own. She's said so over and over and over. Why do you think she's lying? she also is adament about not speaking to the press- ever.

19. The acceptance of 'celebrity' being a prerequisite for public service is troubling.

7. Why would anyone insult Chelsea regarding whether she has a political future?
Are you just trying to stir up shit?

4. That would be great but maybe she is
smart enough to stay out. She could run for President in 2016 I think she will be 35 then.

5. Damn...I will be 30 at that point!
Fuck, that's making me feel old now. I was a kid when Bill was in the White House. So was Chelsea. So hearing "35 years old" near her name just makes me feel a shitload older. :(

10. Heh - wait until you hit 40. ;)
And I'm glad you're here on the boards. One of the things I love about Obama is his ability to get youth excited about politics. Not an easy task.

14. Well, the political campaign has helped keep me sane...
while I have been anxiously waiting for The Dark Knight to come out. Batman Begins is my favorite movie ever (at the moment...we'll see how TDK turns out) so I have been totally hyped up for the last 3 years waiting on this son of a gun to finally be released. It's such a shame Ledger died. It looks like he delivered one hell of a performance as the Joker and obviously he was still young with a lot of promise to offer the world. Anyway, the political campaign has helped keep me distracted from TDK although lately it's been hard to ignore the marketing. 2004 was the first year I was eligible to vote. I don't consider myself a Democrat but I will likely never vote for the Republicans. I voted for Kerry but mainly against Bush.

21. Yeah, even at 41 I have those moments. But then I start patting myself
on the back for surviving so long and having such wise judgment in my old age. ;) Go Obama! He may be young, but he's smart and he's got the energy to get this country back on track. Then we can all relax, sit back, and watch Batman together.

6. Perhaps, like the Kennedy children, she's lived it and wants no part of it......
.... Can you blame her if that's the case?

17. Which Kennedy kids? JFK's? It was hardly a secret that JFK Jr
had political ambitions. Quite a few of RFK's kids have had political careers. Joe was a U.S. Rep and may well run for Senator some day. RFK Jr has political ambitions. Kathleen was Lt Gov of MD. Teddy's son Patrick is a U.S. rep.

8. She's about the same age as George P. Bush (Jeb's son), so perhaps
we will have another Bush-Clinton election in our future. Obviously there are people who would be very interested in her running for office, but I wouldn't blame her at all for wanting to live a private life.

16. Doubt it

After the way she's seen both her parents villified for 16 years if she has children I don't think she'll want to put them through that.

Plus she does seem like she has some sort of psychotic obsession with outdoing her mother like a certain other President's kid has with his father.
