Edwards says "no"

From CNN Ticker Producer Alexander Mooney

An Obama-Edwards ticket 'wont' happen.'
(CNN) — Seeing John Edwards and Barack Obama on the same stage earlier this week left political pundits buzzing: Could these two be an unbeatable presidential ticket?

They appeared to have natural chemistry — something Edwards and then-Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry seemed to lack in 2004 — and the former North Carolina senator remains popular among a key demographic that has been reluctant to support Obama — working class white voters.

But Edwards flatly said Friday, as he had before he endorsed a candidate, that he's not interested in making a second run for vice president.

"No," Edwards said in no uncertain terms on NBC's the Today show when asked about the possibility. "Won't happen.…It's just not something I am interested in."

As for another position in an Obama

7. AG that is where he can do the most good.
Obama needs a VP that is going to DIRECTLY take McCain on. Such as Clark or Webb or another with Military Background.

10. I don't know. Obama seems to be doing well all by himself on that front.
I can't believe how much Obama is going up in my opinion every day, now. He'll make a great president.

9. There's your proof that Edwards is about more than grasping at power.
I don't know what happened to him after the 2004 election, but he's definitely changed. I'm thinking by the next possible election (hopefully 2016) that Edwards will have gone through a transformation not unlike Al Gore did after 2000. If he is still interested at that time, I think he'd be nearly unstoppable.

11. I disagree about him power-grabbing.
Maybe I'm ridiculously biased in favor of John, but I think it's less about a power-grab than about not pigeon-holing himself into a position where he can't effect the issues that matter most to him. Just like holding back his endorsement allowed him to advocate for issues not candidates.

I DO agree with you that by 2016, he would be an unstoppable candidate.

12. I think I stated my title poorly. I don't think he's power grabbing at all.
He's working for the interests of the working classes and I respect him more than any other candidate this cycle.
