Enough already with the West Virginians are racist statements. I get it. I know that. I see it. I agree. But that doesn’t stop me from trying to address it when the opportunity arises every time I walk in the classroom. I welcomed the intense light shown on the people of my state for the rest of the nation to see because it actually promoted discussion in some quarters and, yes, defiance in others. It’s an opportunity to sow a few seeds and if you get them while they’re young, well, who knows . . . something just might take root.

Kentucky, you’re up next.

3. I knew he was one of 'them' -
but I'm wondering how Jay wound up in West Virginia.

I've always liked him since I saw him dissing GHW Bush (I think it was GHW, and not W) saying that he (Bush) didn't have a clue how real people lived -- that most people didn't grow up like the Bushes and Rockefellers. He called himself out. I know he's done some funky stuff since then, but I always admired him for that.

6. He's way too tall to fit into a VW.
:P

Seriously, I think he's about 6'4 or 6'5.

I like Rockefeller. He's a good man and has served WV well for many years.

5. WV has long had a bad reputation. Don't blame it on Obama or this primary
I lived in western PA and people even there would rag on WV as being backwards, pathetic, hickish, etc etc. I'm not saying it is right but this sort of pattern of thought has existed FAR before Hillary and Obama came to town.
