I've been around here for 7 years, and it has always been this way. I used to naively post serious 'message' threads often, and watched them sink while the ALL CAPS!!11!, rumor/gossip threads, flamebait, and troll traps got the post counts and attention. That put an end to my earnestness. It's best just to post for your own enjoyment, and if others go along - great, but if not, no loss.

The general rule is, the heavier the content, the quicker it will sink. Exceptions abound, but I think it has been a constant since Day 1.
