How large is the Denver Site that will be hosting the Democratic National Convention?
Edited on Sun May-18-08 07:41 PM by FrenchieCat
Cause, I'm hoping that it is really, really big. It appears that there may be a whole lot of people there. I know I'm guessing......but Does anyone know the capacity of the place?

1. Only people with credentials will get in.
Sadly, it will only be the delegates and the press.

:(

3. Barack couldn't even get into the 2000 convention.
HE writes about the experience in The Audacity of Hope.

11. Amazing American story, huh?
2000 - State Senator can;t even get into the party convention because he has no credentials.

2004 - US Senate candidate delivers keynote speech at the convention.

2008 - The nominee

Only in the United States of America could Barack Obama's story ever happen.

4. You can try signing up as a volunteer.
At least for the CA State convention in SD with all the presidential candidates, some people got in that way.

5. Hell, to give you an idea...
This is Civic Center Park, where the rallies will MOST likely be held:

Pepsi Center: Capability is as follows:

19,000 for basketball games (I'm sure it'll be tons more, maybe 22,000 with creds..

There are a lot of venues here that will probably be used..

The Colorado Convention Center (just across the street and to the south of the Can as we like to call it)

9. Thanks a lot. Good to know.
I'm suspecting that people will just be there, without intent to get in. Barack will have to hold rallies outside of the venue for non credential crowds, I'm suspecting.

14. There won't be 19000 seats available
what with the media booths and special sections being set up. As someone earlier posted it's a moot point since the public won't be let in.

10. I'll be around.. but not sure if I'll get the credientals..
even though I signed up as a volunteer, but I do want to go to the hot spots - like the backstage to meet all the good people... so I'm going to try to use my connections to get in.

in meeting a fellow DU'er ... a beer might be fun.

16. Sure thing! Some folks were talking about a DU meetup.
I think there are others who are delegates or going to the convention, plus the locals. We should toss back a few! :hi:

18. You'll love Denver's downtown...
Lots of brewpubs, restaurants, hotels, shops, sportsbars, sidewalk cafes along the 16th St. Mall. I have to give it to Denver. We have a very vibrant downtown area. BTW the Pepsi Center is within walking distance of downtown.
