Would Hillary even accept a VP slot?
Edited on Tue May-20-08 04:43 PM by Cant trust em
I honestly can't imagine Hillary Clinton accepting a position as Barack Obama's understudy. After this brutal primary it is beyond credulity (IMO) that this would actually be a scenario.

1. Yes, I am sure that she would.
At this point, I really believe that the winner needs to offer it to the other. Each side has brought record numbers to the polls, each campaign has raised record amounts of money.

I believe that it's only some - not all, SOME - Obama supporters who are against this. I am a strong Hillary supporter and even if it's as the VP candidate, I would be thrilled to be able to vote for her again.

4. Agreed -- it's not an optimal ticket for either side, but together should be enough to win the GE

22. If Hillary would be the VP, Obama would not serve out his first term.
Someone would take him out. Very bad idea. He need a strong Liberal as our Vice President. Someone the nutty right sees as worse than Obama.
Hillary is a DINO, not a Liberal. Look at how she ran her campaign. How it that any different than any republican running for office? Endorsing McCain? Quoting Karl Rove as if that was a good thing? Er, no. We need better.

Yes, and here's why
1. It potentially sets her up for '12 (let's hope NOT) or '16 (which would realistically be her last, good shot)
2. I could see a scenario -- especially if we do really well in the Senate -- where she parks herself in the VP slot until a SCOTUS opening comes, and then changes jobs. That could be a win-win by also allowing Obama to offer the Veep position to someone younger and more progressive, once in office.

12. Lets assume that she's VP and Obama serves two terms
in 2016 she's going to be 68 years old. Only 3 years younger than McAged is now.

As for scenario 2, are you saying that she stays VP until Obama names her to the Supreme Court? Are there any constitutional limitations to this?

15. I think, as a two term VP, she'd be well positioned to run in '16
As for point #2: There are no constitutional limits. The Constitution doesn't even require that one be a judge or even a lawyer to serve on the SCOTUS. Back in the day, it would have meant Pelosi would become de facto VP, but the constitution was changed; Obama would nominate a Veep and the Senate would approve.

3. Of course not. The point to bringing it up is to "deny" it to her and let Obama supporters
mock her and the fact that she has supposedly disgraced herself and proved herself undeserving.

Whatever. In 3 years Hillary will be Senate Majority leader and Obama will be an irrelevant junior senator who has replaced McGovern as the symbol of Democratic insanity.

9. Gosh, and break the streak of Senate leaders in the Rocky Mountain Time Zone?
Trust me -- I'd have voted against Hillary for President on GP if I thought we had the brains to make her majority leader.

If Hillary can't be the nominee, let's hope that Mr. Obama is not still in the Senate. While I think Hillary would be a better President, the idea of President McCain is just bad. Trust me, it can get worse, and it will if he's elected.

16. Hilariously supposes she would ever be offered VP... she won't. She is history...
And she has nobody to blame but herself. It's only a matter of when some of her supporters will admit it.

18. So glad to see there's still some bitterness in here.
I almost thought I was in the wrong place when I saw some actual NICE threads about both candidates and their supporters.

21. Don't give me that shit while your candidate is running around making up lies
about "popular vote" and calling Obama "sexist".

What is it Clinton supporters used to say... "if you can't stand the heat..."
