We are in GE Mode... so yesterday I ordered a couple
Obama '08 magnets and will look for veterans for Obama in a sec

I don't like centrists, but he is the candidate, and we are already in General Election mode...

And this is the future

(and I keep reminding myself, FDR did NOT run on a progressive platform either)

1. I would like to find the Static clings for car windows.
I don't want to put the sticker-type on my car.

2. Your FDR point is key.
It is not about Obama and his positions. It is about Progressives taking this country back. Progressives will ride Obama's coattails and Progressives will pressure him to do the will of the people.

The best thing is, Obama listens.

5. I agree. Progressives may not get everything we want, but at least we will have a seat at the table
for the first time in about 30 years.

Obama has empowered the grass roots and the grass roots have empowered Obama. He will owe the grassroots and it's our opportunity to get some stuff done.

6. Yes yes yes!
I second everything you say and all the others who commented on it. Our work has only begun with the election of Obama. And yes, the key is he LISTENS.

8. Preach it. This is about a return to Constitutional government. It usually works.
When we have checks and balances, when we have three CO-EQUAL branches of government, the actual governance we receive is better.

We'll have a better and fairer justice department.

We'll have a better and fairer foreign policy.

We'll have better and fairer civil and voting rights divisions.

We'll have a better and fairer economic policy.

We'll have some oversight and accountability, which is better than what we have right now: NONE AT ALL.

This election isn't so much about Barack Obama as it is about a return to the framework of our Constitution. It's about competent governance actually listens to the people it governs and makes rational, logical decisions. I'll take that. An Obama presidency is a return to sanity. He won't be coming into the WH with axes to grind and a host of paybacks to dish out or secrets to hide.

That's a good starting point and something to build upon. Maybe when his Presidency and history campaign will inspire other progressives to run for office and stand up against conservative and centrist candidates. The common wisdom before was that you couldn't win without selling out to special interests. Obama has shown you can raise dollars elsewhere... from the people you'll represent.
