Appreciation thread for Senators Rockefeller and Byrd
Also

The following superdelegates who also endorsed Senator Obama
Rep. John Yarmuth (KY)
Rep. Ben Chandler (KY)
Rep. Nick Rahall (WV)

Its easy to take the high road when your from a progressive state.

We don't have to state why. Everyone knows what these gentlemen have done by standing up to their fellow Kentuckians and West Virginians and simply said in quiet dignity;

Not me

Not here

Not this time

Thank you

11. So I take it you weren't one of the Obama people complaining
about Stephanie Tubbs Jones and Shelia Jackson Lee endorsing Clinton when their districts when overwhelmingly for Obama.

14. I never worried about the supers and knew that they would follow the pledged vote
but there is a world of difference from all of the 150 sycophantic superdelegates that rushed for the Clintons hoping for administration positions before the campaign started.

The reason that Jones and Lee got so much flack and deserved so much criticism is not because they endorsed Clinton - its because they never gave Obama a chance - they made up their mind without letting him make his case.

So their is a world of difference when statesman stare down clearly racist sentiment and with no possibility of personal political advantage follow their conscience. If somebody like Jones or Lee were to go counter to their district AT THIS TIME I would honor it just as I send kudos to every Clinton voter or volunteer on DU who makes a personal decision to do so.

15. Lee got shouted down at a convention in her district
and Tubbs Jones got death threads. Incidently, Tubbs Jones didn't endorse until fairly shortly before the Ohio primary, well after her districts' intent was clear. But, as usual, Obama good, Clinton bad, no matter what.

20. You are either completely ignorant or totally uninformed but in any case
before you challenge me on a fact you come with a godamn link

you are a fool

did you think that I would make a statement without a link? Unlike you we don't just make it fucking up as we go.

You are entitled to your opinions but you are not entitled to your facts.

Do you really think that you can bring your little gossip without checking for a fact or two? As I said the reason that they were booed is because all their lives African Americans have been turned away without having gotten a chance and here these two sisters never gave Obama a chance. They turned against him before the brother had a chance to make his case and get his voice heard and that is why they are hated in their communities - because they sold out for their own personal future. Byrd and Rockefeller did just the opposite they made their choices public when they knew that the local population- including a sizeable racist group - would never forgive and never forget. One was a profile in courage and one was a profile in putting their own careers first - can you figure out which is which?

Both Lee and Jones were among the VERY FIRST AMONG THE RUSHING SYCHOPHANTS ENDORSING HILLARY CLINTON HOPING FOR A JOB - HAVING ENDORSED HER ONE YEAR AGO

Women's Campaign Forum Endorses Clinton, Joins Women Leaders Across the Country
Hillary Clinton was endorsed today by the Women's Campaign Forum, a bipartisan group dedicated to identifying and promoting women candidates for elected office. The Forum joins other prominent national women's organizations supporting Clinton, including EMILY's List, the National Organization for Women PAC, the National Women's Political Caucus, the Women's Political Committee and the Eleanor Roosevelt Legacy Committee.

"The Women's Campaign Forum is proud to endorse Hillary Clinton for President of the United States," said Ilana Goldman, President of the Women's Campaign Forum. "We could not ask for a better candidate. She is simply the most qualified and experienced candidate in the field for the White House and she demonstrates it each day of the campaign. She shows that women can succeed at the highest levels. Hillary Clinton is an inspiration for our daughters and for women across the country who are running -- or considering running -- for elected office."

"Hillary Clinton has shown that she does not just walk the walk, but she talks the talk -- in fact, she's leading the march," said Senator Barbara Mikulski, a national chair of the Clinton campaign. "She sponsored the Paycheck Fairness Act to ensure that women get equal pay for equal work. She sponsored the Prevention First Act to ensure that women have access to reproductive health services. She fought the Bush administration to make Plan B emergency contraception available over the counter. She passed legislation to expand the S-CHIP program to provide more children with health insurance, and is working for another expansion to cover all children. I am proud to see so many women leaders from across the country join me in supporting Hillary."

"I am grateful for the outpouring of support I've received from The Women's Campaign Forum and women across the country," Clinton said. "I will continue to reach out to women and all Americans who are ready for change, and ask them to join me in renewing America's promise."

The Forum's endorsement is the latest show of support from national women's groups and an unprecedented number of women elected officials from across the country in their support for Senator Clinton's historic bid. As former First Lady of Iowa Christie Vilsack said, "Hillary has earned our support for her lifetime of work on issues important to women and families."

25. I made a mistake about Jones
and I apologize for that. I never said Lee didn't. The rest of my point stands. Both of these ladies stood up to their constituents after endorsing her and for that they deserve kudos.

21. Its possible in the sense that they will connect better with the new president
but it doesn't get a lot of new friends in the hills.

I have no feel on the congresspeople but I would like to think that there is an effort to take the high road there.

That is why so many here criticized Sheila Jackson-Lee.

What changed?
