Beyond Shameless: Debbie Wasserman Schultz LYING again on MSNBC
What on Earth have the Clintons promised this monster?

Josh Marshall on the popular vote argument:

"Even if you change the rules and fully seat Michaigan and Florida and count them for the popular vote totals and don't count any portion of the Michigan "uncommitted" (which were understood a the to be for Obama) vote for Obama, Hillary is still behind in the popular vote total. The only way she moves ahead in popular vote is if you do all that AND don't count four of the caucus states...Some stuff is just too ridiculous to let pass."

11. it's gotta be something in the water
it's not just the politicians.

Fl has some good people.. but it honestly seems to have a disproportionately large number of idiots and assholes.
...at least in comparison with other places I've lived.

2. Matthews dropped the ball on that one.
Are they really so math deficient that they can't remember that....even with Chuck Todd feeding them the numbers?

Sad.

its like a football game that is over by half and the announcers keep talking about how they can come back, the losing team finally makes a first down and they talk about them turning it around.

popular vote numbers? Two completely different things.

16. But you can count a state where his name
wasn't on the ballot? Last I checked America STILL wasn't a third world country. And I hope you do come back to defend that line when they're itching to count the Puerto Rico vote in their totals, a population that can't even vote in the General. But let's ignore legitimate states because they choose to nomintate their delegates by caucus instead of primary. Yeah, just try to make that argument to the SD's. I'll be here, waiting, laughing. :)

22. The popular vote count isn't to hit some trigger that gives
someone the nomination. It is a metric that can be an important argument to make to the SD's and it may very well be persuasive.

Hillary has had more people voluntarily affirm their vote for her than any other candidate in this primary.

sorry. Outstanding fundraising + delegate count = Obama nomination. It's over.

27. Well we are seeing it, that's why they keep moving to his
column. But calm down, I know that we're going to get both of them. So stop trying to undermine Obama, let's call a truce and support a unity ticket. They're not taking it from Obama, simple as that. Let's assume they want both of them, and work to fight the real enemy, ok? :)

20. And you are too blind to understand you just pointed out why Hillary's bullshit is so stupid
popular votes are different from caucus numbers and thus DON'T COUNT IN THE PRIMARY.

24. Who says they do? No wonder you guys are so confused.
The popular vote is something for the SD's to consider.

15. First, I'm going to vote for the Democratic candidate...
Edited on Tue May-20-08 10:09 PM by Sancho
This is what Wasserman is talking about (from Realpolitics):

Popular Vote (w/FL & MI)** 16,894,523 47.3% 17,170,864 48.1% Clinton +276,341 +0.78%
Estimate w/IA, NV, ME, WA* 17,228,607 47.4% 17,394,726 47.8% Clinton +166,119 +0.46%

Of course, there are a zillion ways to recompute so it is not a perfect count.

At any rate, it is close. I'm a little more interested in the republicans and independents who have NOT been active in primaries but WILL vote in the general election. That is the group that will make the difference.

At least both candidates were talking unity. Neither will win the general election without a part of the base plus some crossover.
