Those who most crave power are most unfit to wield it.

21. You're correct.
Obama made the cornerstone of his campaign the rejection of status quo. Clinton is the epitome of status quo. Offering her the VP slot would be hypocrisy.

Clintons (both of them) breathing down your neck? I think not. She'll just attempt to act like she's really the President. What a headache that would be.

110. Because Bill is still called "Mr. President", and there's no way

that alpha-male Bill combined with "two for the price of one" Hillary could be contained.
Bill has taken too much money from the gov't of Columbia, and etc. - it seems indiscriminately - and why would Obama's gov't want to be handling that kind of baggage? To say nothing of Obama's GE campaign being totally compromised on one of Obama's greatest strengths.

My intuition says that Hillary doesn't even want to be VP. That she wants to be POTUS or, since that's all but impossible in the short term, to continue clearing her own way, her own path. I've no doubt that she'll prosper.

64. I posted this elsewhere but wanted you to be see it as well Maddy :)
It might lift your spirits. :)

It isn't about how much certain (individual) Obama supporters like Hillary, or how much Obama likes Hillary(although I think Obama is as fine with her as any person would be at the end of a hard contest such as this)... it is about how much the 47% of the Democratic Party likes Hillary. Because almost half of the party voted for her. That's very split. We both have a common goal, you and I, because we both want to see Obama replace George Bush in the white house. We want to make history with this election, and doing so is a serious matter. So I think we should be very serious about what it will take to get us to that goal. I honestly believe that Hillary as VP will do a lot of good towards uniting the party in Nov. I think that ticket will be unbeatable. This is NOT like any other election in history. This is NOT like any other primary in history. A shocking amount of people have come out in favor and love of Hillary.

Even Obama recently said that Hillary is on his short list for VP. OVER half of the democratic party wants hillary for VP and almost half of Obama's supporters (according to polls) would be okay with her as VP. We need to do what is going to get us the most votes from these people who desire this so that you and I can both be so, so, so happy in November!

 for all of DU

Put aside the competitive juices for one second. First, name Bill ambassador to Eritrea. Second, admit it- Hillary is as tough as nails.

yeah yeah... technically the VP has to be confirmed by the delegates at the convention, but it is very rare for the delegates to overturn the candidate.

hold together the Democrats - and that's the first priority. Forget appealing to independents/disaffected Republicans - if we don't even have our own party in line, none of those other considerations matter.

92. I'm fine with that. She'd be a good choice for VP.
I think there are a couple candidates who would help Obama a bit more in the general, but I'd be happy to vote for an Obama/Clinton ticket.

And of course she'd make a very competent VP.
