Did anyone hear Fineman's analysis on MSNBC a few minutes ago?
It's all about May 31 and the committee meeting and everyone knows it will be Obama but the party is trying to find a way to get Clinton out without her blowing up the party.

Is that what I heard?

Seems like he was saying it depends on whether she plays hard ball with the FL and MI delegation and if she does, they will all declare for Obama.

1. This feels like hostage negotiations with a crazy lady, talking her down with minimal damage.

31. And you want her for VP? C'mon now.
We can do MUCH better than that. I'm not trying to stir something up, but I want Obama to run with who he wants to, someone he can trust.

7. My thoughts exactly.
I'm surprised. Now I'm not sure why, but after the Indiana and North Carolina primaries I thought that Clinton would handle her climb-down with more grace. But tonight it just seems like she doesn't care what happens in November. It's all about her.

19. Well Here's A Chance For Obama To Put His Money Where His Mouth Is.......
and talk to the enemy. Hmmmm.... Appeasement maybe? Is Hilliary forcing him to do something like this so the Repugs can say that how will he be able to talk to Amindinajad and negotiate - if he can't even work through this with Hilliary. Is this part of her plan to make him look bad and lose to McCain so she can run again in 2012?

3. May 31
I fear that at the meeting the DNC will say no to FL and MI and Hillary will then use that as an excuse to appeal the decision to the credentials committee, dragging it our for longer.

Edited on Tue May-20-08 10:55 PM by Stagecoach
The Super-Delegates will do as Hillary does. If the Clinton camp is graceful and cooperative in this meeting, the superdelegates will be mutually graceful and cooperative and wait until after all primaries have been held. Otherwise, if the Clinton camp becomes uncooperative in this May 31st meeting, the Super-delegates will respond in kind and end it right then and there.

It's not matter if the super delegates will go with Obama; it's a matter of when. It'll be based on how the Clinton camp's demeanor is in the May 31st meeting.

24. He actually threw out two numbers
2118 or 2131, depending on what the rules committee decides to do with the SD's. He seems to be pretty certain that the pledged delegates will be halved.

36. Supers clearly should not be seated.
Per the DNC rules (the earlier ones...before all delegates were stripped) and especially since a lot of them caused this whole mess.

28. In 2012, we should have a clear rule that states which jump ahead...
...have their delegates halved.

Even if NH does it.

30. Why doesn't one lousy talking head ask Howard Wolfson or
Terry McAuliffe or any of her other crazed spokespeople why she willingly signed the agreement to disenfranchise voters at the beginning and only appeared to care about their voting rights when she needed to add them to her column? No one asks this. She gets such a pass. I'd love to be sitting on that committee.
