Why isn't anyone mentioning Clinton's inability to get the "educated" vote
Edited on Wed May-21-08 11:48 AM by Cant trust em
Everyone seems to be harping on the fact that Obama is struggling to get the "white working class" vote. No one is interested in reporting that in contest after contest Obama has been the one to win the college educated. The media hasn't mentioned this at all . Why is that?

I suspect that this is because playing up racial tensions is much more interesting and a better way to get ratings.

1. Education is over rated, and not nearly as easy to manipulate those with one.
The press and most politicians prefer uniformed voter bases. Playing on their fears and single issues is a greater way to divide and draw them in.

2. In America, its acceptable to make fun of "educated" people
And hence, this vote is actually negatively connotated. Who wants the nerd vote?

Its the masses, the salt of the earth, the white workers that is sought after. Those are the cool people that are so valued. At least thats what you would think watching the news.

5. They also don't mention either Clinton's OR McCain's inability to get the black vote
When it comes to Obama not winning certain demographics in the white community, it's OBAMA's fault that he's "just not reaching" those folks.

But when McCain and Clinton fail to win more than a handful of black votes, it's not treated as any failure on their part - it's just shrugged off as if to say, "those black people just won't vote for them."

6. I just can't help but think about Gore's "Assault on Reason" ... and shake my head.
There's a certain reasoning discipline that appears to be particularly absent among the Clinton supporters more than others. Fallacies abound. Suppostion and conjecture are employed in lieu of facts. There's a noteworthy failure to distinguish between attacking the message and attacking the messenger. That reasoning discipline is particularly essential in mathematics (ironic), but is a prerequisite in virtually any higher educational context.

Most noteworthy to me is the similarity to right-wingers and Faux News Voyeurs. It's disturbing.

7. We wouldn't want SMART, EDUCATED people making
decisions on who is fit to run the country. Obviously the less educated you are - the more you would know about how a government works and who is fit to run it. :eyes:

This baffles me as well. My only thought is that there are far MORE uneducated whites then educated.. so perhaps because there are more, we out to be upset that we can't get there votes?

8. It's a numbers game, pure and simple.
There are a lot more whites in the working class than there are white college graduates.

9. She "gets" the educated vote, including mine.
In many states Obama simply gets more.
I assume you haven't really looked at the numbers....
