Did you notice the snafu on MSNBC this afternoon? Andrea Mitchell has an hour slot now. As an "after the break" lead-in, she showed clips of the HBO upcoming movie "Recount" (about the 2000 election)and said she would be joined by Kevin Spacey (sp ?) who was it's star.
As the music rose, the camera panned to her right and showed Spacey walking on to the set and approaching her desk. She looked that way and was taken by surprise.
She rose and they shook hands...."nice to see you". He then said "I missed you in Washington" (music continues to rise). She answered (and would have been thinking they already went to break)"well, I was at Senator John McCain's____". They cut it off and went to break.
I want to know what McCain thing she was at. (If anything, she has been assigned to cover Clinton and would understandably be at a Clinton event). It's one thing to be a reporter covering some political speech, appearance, etc. of McCain but that apparently wasn't it. So what did she "attend"? Was it a fundraiser or "drinks" at John's place or what??? Bottom line: she does not belong schmoozing with ANY candidate while she is part of a news organization during an election campaign. When I saw that I could only think "here we go again". Oh...and then Spacey went on and on about the importance of the film being the emphasis that we need to count all the votes in Florida, etc. in this primary. Very much a pro-Clinton speech. Geee, I guess Andrea didn't real pick this interview. She must have had it just foist upon her (cough, cough).
