A movie on the Florida recount airs just days before a decision is made on MI and FL
http://www.hbo.com/films/recount/

The timing of this is awesome, the nation will recall how the b*sh junta stole the election in FL 2000 by not counting the votes.

The pressure on the Rules committee to do the right thing will be strong.

The millions of voters from MI and FL should be counted!

1. I thought I heard
that this movies does not accurately portray the recount, and it unfairly biased for Bush and the Republicans. I think I remember reading it, but I could be wrong.

Regardless, Florida and Michigan should not count.

I have argued similarly.

They claim to be Democrats - but have no clue as to what the Democrats stand for - such as equal rights for all.

26. Hillary is distracted by FL & MI
Obama's official position is for Hillary to stay in the race. Yet he has effectively forced her to constantly defend why she should stay in this race. Not exactly a winning argument. Winners don't try to convince you that they should stay in a race. She's been unable to successfully pivot off of this. Obama gives the media just enough morsels to continue this line of political punditry and Hillary's camp has done it's fair share of taking the bait.

Brilliant strategy by the Obama campaign. Hillary Clinton launched a kitchen sink strategy of attacks on Obama a couple of months ago. Some personal, some political, and some policy. Obama has silently launched a kitchen sink strategy of distraction for Hillary. For example, everybody knows that FL and MI will be seated on 5/31, probably heavily in favor of Hillary also. Yet it's part of her stump speech when she campaigns in OR. You think undecideds are basing their decision on who to vote for based on why we should love FL and MI voters so much? Hillary's camp is like a pitbull that is tearing up your sofa cushions. Obama was happy to throw her the FL and MI bone to chew on to stop the attacks. Every second spent lobbying for FL and MI is another second not attacking Obama.

The Obama supporters are happy to continue feeding these morsels to the Hillary supporters here, hoping that they continue to spread.

P.S. I don't think that FL and MI should count, and I plan on writing a letter to Dean to advocate this position. Let's argue!

6. And you are as blatantly clear in your bias.
FL and MI did not have a valid election to determine delegates. The DNC offered to pay for a valid primary or caucus and Karen Thurman said no. The gave 30 days to work the situation out. They bent over backwards to allow the delegates to be seated for FL (at least, can't speak as much for Michigan, as I don't live there). And the state party said No, even though they had agreed to the rules just months before.

As all the candidates did, Hilary Clinton supported the sanctions. It is extremely disingenuous to now want to say you want to "count all the votes".

I live in Florida and I support the DNC in their actions. I supported it at the time it happened because it was not their choice and it was completely obvious to anyone who paid attention that it was Karen Thurman (the Florida Democratic Party Chairperson) who wanted this to happen. I am getting angry at you Hillary Clinton supporters who now want to repeat stupid ass phrases and use it for political gain.

Grow up. Learn about the things of which you speak. I live in Florida and contend that there was NEVER a valid election for the delegates. If you want the delegates to be seated, there should be another election that is actually valid. That is my position.

*As a disclaimer, because I KNOW it will be the first thing out of your mouth, I am not an Obama supporter, either. I supported John Edwards, who is no longer running. That being said, I'll vote for either Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama in the general election.*

I did not violate any rules. If any were violated, punish the violaters. I voted in a fully valid, sanctioned primary. And I want my vote counted.

No - again you are absolutely wrong. I am not a Hillary supporter. I am also a John Edwards supporter who still considers a write-in for him because he supports my views better than either of the other two do.

(on edit - I removed a "screw you" from the subject line. I shall maintain the intent here.)

16. Do you know how delegates are selected?
Unfortunately, you did not vote in a valid election for delegates. The Democratic Party chooses the delegates. And the DNC did not sanction the election, so you didn't vote in a "fully valid, sanctioned primary". The state doesn't even have to allow us to vote for the delegates, although they all do.

The state Democratic Party (Karen Thurman herself) voted on these rules and agreed to not have a primary before that Feb. 5th. She then violated the rules by working with the Republicans to move the date up. So, the state was sanctioned. Again, the state is not required to allow us to vote in a Primary. They could go back to selections in a smoke-filled room and it would absolutely not be illegal. (the part that got Karen Thurman in trouble was voting "Yes" and then turning around and saying "No". She refused to try to resolve the issue).

While I will apologize for saying "Grow up", I stand by the rest of what I said. If anyone (Clinton or Obama, either one) want to seat delegates that were selected in an invalid (and mostly unfair) election, I'm against it, if it if means that my vote for a delegate for John Edwards would not count.

Since Florida law says no one can be taken off the ballot, let's have another go at it. I'd vote for John Edwards again, and this time, I would know it would count.

18. I would fully support another vote - and would vote again
and I would vote for JE as well.

We had one opportunity to vote. And 1.7 million voted - about 2 1/2 times the number voting 4 years ago. So I acknowledge this is a representative sample. Seat the delegates accordingly.

I think the DNC should punish those that broke their rules.

Withhold funding. Deny nat'l roles in upcoming elections.

Just do not take away the voters voice. The voters are getting screwed - through no fault of their own.

24. But the RNC also sanctioned their people
If we seat "all" the delegates as everyone seems to want, then we look like real pansies, don't we? They ARE punishing the people who broke the rules, but not allowing them to seat any delegates.

We, as voters, have no right to vote in a primary. That's what I've been trying to say. The state allows us to, but it is the State Party that determines delegates and it is the State Party from whom the delegates were taken away.

Do you think that withholding funding from the State Democratic Party is not going to punish us, the voters? It will, as will denying them roles in upcoming elections.

They are supposed to be our leaders. Karen Thurman didn't lead. And rather than fight on some political board about whether or not we should allow all the delegates, it is my opinion that we, as the voters, need to do something about HER. Because she's going to sell us down the river again. She became a democrat to take the seat as the Chairperson. THAT should give you pause.

36. I understand what you are saying about the delegates
and I do not believe it is any diffent than many if not all other states. However, in reality - the delegates follow the lead of the voters in the primaries.

Is that not correct?

and we are pansies - face it. Look at Reid and Pelosi. We act tough in enforcing the rules with our voters because they can be easily pushed around. But when it comes to trying to run the country, we put in the weakest "pansies" we can find.

38. Yes, you are correct about that
There are certain delegates that are pledged to do the will of the voters (any that are not Super Delegates). However, even though they pledge to vote a certain way, they are not required to. It they go against the voters, they are called Faithless Delegates, but nothing else happens.

And about the pansies, too.

31. They (the voters) helped send these ARROGANT demigods to leadership positions in the State Party.
They played a role, and these representatives SCREWED THEM. Not the DNC, their OWN State Democratic Party LEADERS.

Suck it up and PLAY BY THE RULES.

If HRC cheats and steals this nomination, there will be "hell to pay" within our party ... HRC will NOT score the Presidency BUT she will truly trash her beloved, God Almighty "Clinton Legacy" in the process.

These STATE DEMOCRATIC LEADERS (FL, MI) would not comply with the DNC rules. They knew that the votes would be scrubbed BUT the DNC will seat the delegates 50:50.

You you HRC adorers care so much about counting "all the votes" then how about COUNTING THE VOTES in "The Caucus States" too?!?

Oh no, counting the votes in the Caucasus won't support HRC's meme ... it won't help her CHEAT her way to the nomination.

23. Once again, for the hundredth time, can any Hillary supporter
explain to me why she signed the agreement that disenfranchised the voters of Michigan and Florida? Back then she assumed she would win by Super Tuesday and didn't need them, but now . . . how times have changed . . . her new "cause" is having those very same votes counted. She needs them now. I've never seen anything so disingenuous in my life and uninformed voters are lapping it up. In addition, she's got her "popular vote" spiel that doesn't count caucus states and throws in the states she previous disenfranchised. What a piece of work this woman is.

remind me of Republicans lobbying for the freedom and democracy of the Iraqi people. They didn't start caring until their leader told them to start caring, and now they justify it as some kind of noble cause supported by the Constitution.
