Clinton implys that Flordians should vote for John McCain
Edited on Wed May-21-08 08:43 PM by Wolsh
“I think people across Florida and Michigan are thinking to themselves,‘Well if the Democrats don’t want my vote, maybe John McCain and the Republicans do?’ We can’t let that happen,” she told the small crowd . . .

4. I think she has become unhinged.
I mean that in all seriousness.

She has lost her way. She is like Gollum running after "her precious."

She now scares me. I thnk she might go completely kukoo and destroy the party.

A week ago I thought that line of thinking was nuts. Now I think she is.

snips/

In just one day, Clinton has used a variety of arguments to convince her party to seat Florida and Michigan delegates, going as far as comparing the struggles of the voters in Florida and Michigan to those of abolitionists, suffragists, to the plight of Zimbabweans. Clinton even warned that if a resolution is not reached, Democrats in these two states would feel abandoned and likely jump ship to Republican John McCain.

“I think people across Florida and Michigan are thinking to themselves, ‘Well if the Democrats don’t want my vote, maybe John McCain and the Republicans do?’ We can’t let that happen,” she told the small crowd .

Clinton pointed out that unlike the Republicans, the Democrats have not been able to solve the Florida issue in a timely fashion saying, “We have allowed ours to go on.”

Sounds like a lightly veiled suggestion to me.
'If you can't vote for me ... vote McCain'.

Edited on Wed May-21-08 08:56 PM by David Zephyr
How long must this farce continue? It's obvious to me that the Clintons want to destroy Obama. There's nothing to prove it otherwise.

At some point, even the most skeptical has to conclude that the Clintons are working against our victory this November. This is just one more of her comments in a never-ending string that clearly show where her heart is.

23. All these Obamaites can't be having a reading comprehension
problem can they? Either their hate has eroded away their intelligence or they are simply searching desperately for something more to hate about Clinton. Maybe this is an example of the 'dumbing' down of the US. Good God, I don't know. Unbelievable that people can read that statement made by Clinton and claim she is supporting McCain in some obscure manner. It's nutty. Hate destroys reason.

41. Lady?! That's a first. Do you find that her statement was designed to help the Dems in Nov?
I'm not sure what interpretation of it you're trying to spin. Sure sounds like she's not shrinking away from the idea of them voting for McCain. She's presenting it and not challenging it as wrong or bad thinking. Which certainly adds validity to the idea.

She's tying it to Florida- and Hillary- not getting its (her) way. She's presented a reason (in her deluded mind) for them to behave this way (vote McCain) and refuses to say it's wrong. That's despicable. Particularly because her position on Florida and Michigan is such intellectually dishonest horse crap.

But I'm shocked you couldn't tell from my posts that I'm a sexist male (maybe it's because actually I just HATE liars).

Somebody can post a blatant lie and it has 50 recs before a rational person points out the lie. Then they still repeat it again and again and again.

31. Not Sure If I Am Sarcastic . . .
Part of me wants to see the GOP get some of their own medicine in the form of Hillary Clinton. She totally appeals to my cynical we are all doomed to perish from global warming anyways side. Hillary Clinton represents a win at all cost never say quit, change the rules at every advantage path to power, and you have to respect that. You keep writing her off, and she keeps coming back.

I used to admire her, but part of me want to see her just destroy the entire Democratic party so that we can start from scratch. Let her convince the Democratic part that whites will never vote for a minority in a general election, while also throwing the sexism card whenever she is called on it.

Remember the SNL skit? Was that sarcasm or was that the cold hard truth? Its hard to tell the difference isn't it?

52. Sounds like part of her VP plan
Make me VP and I'll bring my supporters back in line and help Dems win the general election.
Don't make me VP and I'll signal that my supporters shouldn't vote for Obama and McCain will win.

It's game theory.

She figures she has a strong enough hand to make the Dems lose the election, and damn it she's willing to play that hand if she has to. So she figures Obama has no choice but to make her VP.

Possible flaws with this strategy:
1) She might be toxic to the ticket anyway in termns of boosting Republican turnout, so Obama might figure he's still better off with someone else, and the Dems are just weaker.
2) If Obama doesn't select her as VP, does she have a credible threat? Not really, so she's trying to lock herself in now.
