The "haves" and the "have mores" could not care less whichever one of them wins it, as long as it IS one of the two.

That was supposed to be the name of the game until someone came along and upset the apple cart.

Again, this is just my perception, but I'm sticking with it.

1. Why the haves and the have-mores?
Wouldn't they prefer a republican?

21. The Clintons (and their policies) have been very friendly to Republicans.
Edited on Thu May-22-08 06:46 AM by Tesha
NAFTA, DOMA, telecommunications deregulation, welfare
"reform", IWR, USA PARTIOT Acts I and II, efforts to
ban flag-burning...

The list of Republican policies supported by the Clintons
goes on and on so if the Republicans can't have a real
Republican elected, a Clinton would be almost as good
from a policy perspective and *FAR BETTER* for providing
"political cover" to their shenanigans.

more Clinton bashing and Obama worship. Silly me.

3. You are spot on...
Look at how the neocons like Bill Kristol and Karl Rove--praised Hillary and threw
verbal hand grenades at Obama.

Hillary and Bill were folded into the neocon fray long ago. They wanted to be where
the action and power was--and they sold their souls for a piece of it.

They're long gone. And you're so right. The powers that be figured that they had
a win-win. Both Hillary and McCain would leverage their agenda, and keep the greed
and corporatism flowing as it has for the past decade.

Obama has thwarted all of that.

It's truly a miracle that he ran for President when he did.

They have foolishly made Obama their top recipient of campaign cash! Silly billies!

are exactly terrors to business.

6. Damn. Apparently, I'm not "connected"...
A McCain presidency would work well for my short-term prosperity...it'd save me money.

However, I really believe that none of us can truly prosper unless we provide an atmosphere in which all of us can prosper.

Gee, I never get to be one of the cool kids...

13. You know what the OP means, though.
Sure, it seems like the NASCAR crowd has suddenly become Zellary's "base," but remember, a lot of those folks voted for Bu$h last time. The point is, she's thinking just like a neocon - trick the group Whitehouse.org so memorably called "the yachtless rabble" into voting for you, and then shit on them with corporate-friendly policies. Works every time. Except now.

9. "Insiders" as opposed to "connected" would have been a better choice in the OP
That's what I meant to convey.

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss. Serving the same old interests. The "Maverick" and the new "Working Guy's Populist Fighter"

They both try to outdo each other in braggadocio a la Bush -

Bomb Bomb Bomb Bomb Bomb Iran or

"obliterate" Iran

or, oh, my God, a person who would actually talk to them before pressing a big red button.

15. Obama should say, should I negotiate with a country before I send you kids
or should I just send your kids to a war and try and negotiate later.

she`s one of them...john`s a liability because he`s a rerun of bush. even the swells are fed up with bush and do not want another 4 years of bush`s policies....

yes the last thing they want is someone who raised millions of dollars from the "people" and still has money in the bank.

16. This is why she has been my very last choice from the beginning.
She is one of "them", a neo-lib. Same as a neo-con except sane on social issues. The corporatists are in both parties. Under her the wars will not end, the profiteering will not end, the torture and spying will continue, she will close the books on the Bush crimes just as Bill did for Poppy, the corporate grip will get tighter, the outsourcing will continue unabated and things will keep sliding the same way, although at a slower rate. She will not be as blatent as BushCo and as such will appear to be better as Bill did but the result will be the same.

She will do the traditional Democratic President tax raise on the rich and the deficit will get a little smaller but she will not have any great effect in stopping the downward spiral because she and her ilk don't want to stop it.

This is why she won't go away. She has to be the nominee to keep things going as they are. If someone gets in there that is not one of "them" they are very likely finished and they cannot have that. I fear Obama may very well be risking his life if he is indeed the reformer he claims to be. He may sell out to them and he might already be compromised, we'll need to see how he performs to know. The real people in power do not want change, they do not want their schemes interrupted and they play the very hardest of ball.

They aren't playing to the "haves and have mores", it's about consolidating power and expanding globalization at all of our expense, rich, poor or otherwise.

I would still vote for her over John McCain because as bad as I think she would be, he will be even worse. I am rather looking forward to voting for someone for a change rather than simply against the Republican.

17. "this is why she won't go away" ...
yep, and why she can cheerfully keep up this campaigning charade at this point...and under the deception that it's all about The People getting their right to have their votes counted. As a longtime election reform activist this really burns me up.

Hillary Clinton is a shameless tron now, no less a puppet than Dubya ever was.

I wonder if any of her loyal supporters with a bit more brainpower actually see what is going on...
