Hillary Clinton is not a cartoon villain and she
does not have super powers. She is not some big threat to Obama and she can't steal the nomination. Obama's campaign isn't worried. Ambinder has an article about that. The DNC/Obama business about how the Obama campaign is taking over the DNC operations in preparation for the general, makes it clear that behind the scenes, this is settled. Obama has the nomination. The RBC has made it's decision. Had it not, the DNC and the Obama campaign wouldn't be in transition mode.

Stop freaking out over what Hillary's doing. She won't take it the convention. She's flailing about out of anger, disappointment and frustration. She's also trying to raise money, and probably lashing out in spite. Her comments about FL and MI are now just pathetic. A joke. Comparing FL and MI to elections in Zimbabwe? Do you really think anyone does anything but shake their heads.

In less than three weeks this will be officially over, but in the real world, it's clearly over NOW.

1. No She Isn't a Cartoon or a Villain
I believe this is what is happening, at least to me. I have always supported her. There have been quite a few times that I have not come here due to all the nasty remarks about her. If the nasty remarks are about her, they are toward anyone that supports or has supported her. And now, you want me to take my "bad" judgment and support Obama? I am supposed to forget all the bad things that have been said about "my" candidate, and vote for yours? Something some of you may want to think about.

3. I did not call your judgment bad, and I'm not in the habit
of begging people to vote for "my" candidate. I have an opinion about people who won't vote for dem nominee this year, but that's another matter.

7. I Just feel that I may be speaking for more than myself.
It is only "my" take on it and I will be voting for Barack Obama. But I feel that may be the reason that some Hillary supporters won't. Bad decision but it could happen. There needs to be reconciliation on this board and in the party. That's all I'm talking about.

30. if the positions were reversed
you'd expect us to forget all the bad things said about "our" candidate and support Hillary. Don't even pretend otherwise. Think about that.

31. "I am supposed to forget all the bad things that have been said about 'my'...
candidate and vote for yours?"

Look to your candidate as the cause for the criticisms lodged against her.

Do you expect us to praise her for bragging about the supoport of Karl Rove? For her racial divisiveness? For her "nearly fraudulent" use of campaign funds? Forher Bush/Rove tactics?

Perhaps if you had chosen a different candidate, there would not be as many criticisms because another candidate may have conducted themselves in a more honorable, less divisive way.

But if you think *I* am going to lay down and meekly tolerate her continued insults to Obama supporters, you are confused about the party I belong to. I don't belong to the "Doormat Party," I belong to the "Democratic Party." I know for some Dem voters the names are the same, but not for me.

36. Are you supposed to forget? Yes you are -- unless you're 12 years old
If so, you can pout, stamp your feet, or have a tantrum. However, if you're of voting age, you need to act like an adult and vote in your best interests and the best interests of the party and the country.

2. In case I had any doubt, there is no way I want a president prone
to "flailing about out of anger, disappointment and frustration". A person's best qualities emerge during a crisis... this is her crisis, and it isn't pretty.

Just think how he would be with any hand in an Obama administration. Horrors...what a nightmare my dream Presidency would turn into. Ugh.

5. I think Obama could handle bill and hill, just fine.
and I doubt he can be pressured into putting her on the ticket. If he does put her on the ticket, it'll be for valid political considerations. That said, I doubt he will. He's not exactly a marshmallow.

15. I guess he can keep him limited in official scope if he needs to...
But I really don't think anyone can keep him on the straight and narrow. He's on his "woman diet" now but we know how successful diets are.

I would hate for Obama to be tainted with that type of embarrassment.

21. I don't think our President should have to "handle" spouses in his adminstration
Edited on Thu May-22-08 08:06 AM by Heather MC
His focus needs to be on running this country, not trying to keep and eye out on his VP and Spouse. He needs a VP that line up with vision, not someone who can't be trusted.

Could he "handle" Bill sure, should he be put in the position? Hell no
I believe Obama already has a VP pick. His Campaign is far to Organized for him no to have the answer to that question. AND IT AIN'T BILLARY

8. Adding to what you said, we can't blame clinton if it is not over until the convention
Edited on Thu May-22-08 07:24 AM by MrWiggles
As I have stated in this forum before, if this contest goes to the convention it will be because of superdelegates not making a timely decision and not because of Hillary. But I wished she wouldn't made these stupid claims because it doesn't help her and it doesn't help the party.

Edited on Thu May-22-08 08:37 AM by MrWiggles
I agree, but it is her right to run while Obama does not have the magic number for the nomination. My point is that superdelegates have the power to end this in June and to avoid a fight at the convention that could be harmful to the party in November. They are not off the hook if that happens because they hold the key to ending this race and avoiding trouble.

18. I'm no so much worried about her stealing
the nomination, rather I'm just so disgusted by her behavior. I can only speak for myself, but that's what keeps my blood boiling. I've never been a Hillary hater and I actually was on the fence early on in this rat race, but now, it's all I can do to try and remember a Hillary who I once admired and actually felt for after the Bill debacle.

I don't know if she realizes just how much she has turned so many off who were once loyal to her and Bill. It's very sad. I see her now as a person who will stop at nothing to get what she feels "entitled" to be hers--no matter what the cost. By saying some of the things she did yesterday in FL, I realize she doesn't really care about the Democratic party. It's all about her. I'm done taking up for her.

ass and spewing shit everywhere she goes. It would help if the media didn't keep giving her free air time to lie about
how she's been sidelined by sexism and the "tragedy" of FL and MI. :eyes:

Obama's campaign is smart, they don't take their eyes off the ball. That doesn't mean that all her crap isn't a problem.

38. clinton has poisoned the well
with her racial divisiveness & race baiting and her playing the gender/sexism card. And her demagoguery over the FL and MI votes.

It's created deep rifts in the electorate that, frankly, may not heal in time. He will be the nominee, of course. But he will have trouble with white voters, older female voters, and in FL and MI because of her continuing with these talking points and lodging them in the psyches of voters and planting these talking points or frames within the media discourse. Once you do that, these things take on a life of their own.

I'm shocked that you don't realize the damage being done.
