Democrats and Republicans alike seem to full of hate.

*** Oh, well, I guess I have to look past his nasty supporters and vote for him over McBush anyway. ***

And yes, I prefer Hillary, mostly because I think Team Clinton would be better for the economy, but Obama is a better speaker and seems a cleaner break from the past, even though he is a politician and not a saint.

64. I have two very good friends (women >60yrs) who support Hillary....
I don't understand it, because supporting her goes against everything they've ever indicated they value, but there it is.

They're both wonderful women.

We just don't discuss politics. Ironically, I can now talk politics with Republican friends who I haven't been able to discuss politics before.

It's been determined that only DLCers, republicans and racists support Clinton and all the good liberals are backing Obama. Once elected, the 'liberals' who support Obama will be raised incorruptible and Clinton supporters be thrown in a flaming pit to perish for our sinful support.

36. Did you see that slight variation of water-boarding, called "water treatment"?
They punch the guy in the stomach, then dunk his head in a bucket of water - the effects are the same, the sensation of drowning is produced.

All so they can say "we don't waterboard".

21. Something I learned right from the mouth of Archie Bunker
when I was a kid. "Never judge a whole group of people by the actions of a few". Of course, he was lecturing Lionel on why he shouldn't judge the policemen who were beating Vietnam War protesters. Lionel got the bigger meaning of it and I did too. I don't judge all of Hillary supporters by the few posters I feel are unfair. There are reasonable people with reasonable arguments why they like Hillary the best. I might not agree with them, but I respect their right to their opinion.

29. just a not on "hate"
When the dems hated bush for being a douchebag, we where right to do it. The only problem with "hate" directed at your candidate is that it only seems like silly because you don't feel the same way. For example, you like a candidate OK but several people seem to have a serious and deep seated hatred for them(sound familiar).

In this case, such as in the Bush case, there are only two possibilities

1) this throng of people is engading in group think and expressing foolish hatred
2) You are not seeing a real problem that exists.

Have you you ever had friend who was dating a liar. You knew it and they knew it but your friend though you where crazy for saying it?
How did that relationship turnout?

Too many of Obama's supporters were mysogynist even earlier in the campaign, and I'm disappointed that he has never had the courage to speak to that issue. Several women (including some Obama supporters) have written articles complaining about the young male supporters of Obama, but I don't think this matter is limited strictly to the young. Too many of these Obama supporters would rather see Clinton crushed than Obama win the general election. I think they are politically naive, and ought to read a book like Susan Faludi's "Backlash," because they clearly do not understand the nature of sexism in our society. Though I support Obama, I'm pretty ashamed to be associated with some of the mean-spirited posters at DU who are not stopped by the moderators. This site, unwittingly, embraces sexism. Do people really not understand how sexism manifests itself?

Any normal candidate would have. Since she's "special", we have to put up with this charade, and it makes us upset.

If the roles were reversed, Obama would be relegated to Ron Paul status by now.

34. Do you know the history at all?
I watched Senator Kennedy, God heal him, pursue the nomination all the way to the convention against a sitting Democratic President. Teddy trailed by over 600 delegates I think, he and Ickes went to the Convention and tried to change the rules to steal the nom from President Jimmy Carter.
So I guess Teddy was 'special' too, and not 'normal'?
Some historical context makes the hysterical converts sound a tad uninformed. Teddy is a prime Obama backer, correct? Just saying. You claim 'any normal candidate would have dropped out' and I say, show me the historical evidence of that. Start with Teddy going after our already elected President, which he did. The same consultant that is pushing Hillary's campaing pushed him, and he did the same thing.
So what you say about Clinton applies also to Teddy Kennedy? Right? And if not, why not?

39. Listening to NPR
yesterday, they had a representative from NARAL and one from Emilys List.. talking about the dissension with women in the democratic party over this election.. A caller chimed in, who sounded to be more of the grandmotherly type.. and she was adamant in her refusal to vote for Obama because of the sexist treatment by the media of Senator Clinton.. when it was pointed out to her that even she acknowledged that it was the media and not Senator Obama, who had made sexist comments.. she still could not move past the bunker she had dug herself into..

Hopefully with time, we will all see, we have developed a bunker mentality about our candidates and each other, that has nothing to do with them.. and is blatantly unfair to both Senators Obama and Clinton

We have much bigger fish to fry besides each other

57. The charge is: "too full of hate"
I plead "no contest".

First, I hate my job.
Second, I don't like my co-workers
Third, I don't like the fact that I can't get a better job.
Fourth, I hate Republican favor-the-rich economics
Fifth, I hate the lies used to sell the above to the public.
Sixth, I hate the way the DLC and Clinton made Democratic economics so much like Republican economics.
Seventh, I hate the way the DLC and Clinton are always using Republican talking points.
Eighth, and this may be out of order, I hate greed, waste, and pollution/destruction of the eco-sphere.

You need to get past the emotion. I like some hate myself. Hate is a sign that somebody cares. It matters to them. It matters to me to. It's not inconsequential if McCain wins. It's not inconsequential if Republicans win Congressional races and Governorships and state legislature races. Not to me. So if I take some of the frustrations from the rest of my life and put some of that into vilification of Republicans and Republican-lites, then the only reason that would bother you is if you don't care or you don't hate the same things.

For example, for you to say that Clintons would be better for the economy, sounds to me like you think Republican economics is better for the economy. That's the way I remember the 1990s, with me trying to tread water and a bunch of yachts floating up there full of drinking and laughing people talking about how great the economy is, and so nobody can be bothered to throw a life preserver to a proletariat way down in the water screaming "Hello!! Hello!! I'd like a fu$%ing job with benefits!"

Which is kinda funny, because for me, the 1990s sucked and almost everyone said they were great. Now in the new millenium I hear lots of complaints, but because I have a job with benefits it does not seem so bad.
