If there is no nominee until LATE August (basically September), we will have two months to not only fight McCain (who will by then have a 7 month head start on consolidating his base), but also to unify a deeply divided party. 2 months. 2 months against a man who will undoubtedly draw support from the hurt groups in the Democratic party because of his 'maverick' appeal.

If this goes to the convention, we are screwed. I still have hope that Hillary is just saying these things to get a better deal on FL and MI, and doesn't sincerely believe she can take it to the convention. Who knows.

1. Don't forget also,
people will be so bloody sick of hearing about the Democrats fighting among themselves there may be some backlash. McCain will be steadily saying "these guys can't even run a primary? How are they going to run the country?" This sucks.

4. There will be no 'history' being made if this goes to August. An old white man will win, if that
is the case.

5. I have no faith at all in Hillary and her intentions.
What Obama needs to do is go into general election mode and begin seriously campaigning against McCain, and unite the party under him as much as possible. He and everyone else in the party should just start treating Hillary like she's the crazy aunt in the attic.

6. I like that idea, but if she decides to help McCain, she has the power to do so.
