How important is Foreign Policy to you?
Given Obama's recent statements on Iran and other countries (and the opposing views by Hillary and McCain), I was wondering where people put foreign policy on their list of issues for a presidential candidate.

Thanks

1. Among the highest-priority concerns -- think of: Iraq Invasion & Occupation.
Think of: global climate change, and trying to counter it.

Think of: globalization.

Think of: supply of and price of petroleum.

Think of: Bushista War on Terra.

Think of: deserved loss of U.S. reputation around the globe.

And I am professionally concerned with global aging.

And besides that, I am personally concerned with Mexico, where I have cose ties of more than four decades' standing.

8. Iran
Does Obama's recent statements on Iran (threat or not) and meetings with leaders cause you any concern?

I think McCain will focus on foreign policy and national security this Fall big time.

5. i remember the global outrage
when junior decided to invade iraq with a rag-tag "coalition of the willing", will of the united nations be damned-

i remember when junior told the "tearsts", to "bring it on!"

really junior? bring it on? wtf kinda shit is that?

in a year, junior basically pissed on the geneva convention, all of our allies, and the rest of the world

were a national joke (even to canada :))

so i guess to answer the question, yes; foreign policy is high on my list of issues

6. It relates to all the top issues I'm concerned about.
If more people would see how our relations (or lack there of) with other countries effects them directly, more people would be placing it at the top of their lists.

7. One of two top issues
as it actually effects most domestic issues, including the economic collapse in this country.

My other issue is single payer health care--HR 676, I believe, is what Kucinich introduced.

9. Frankly, by far the most important

But then again I have lived close to half my my life outside the United States and most of that in the Middle East.

I'm not expecting President Obama to change everything and make peace and justice reign on earth - I do believe that out of all the major candidates he is the least likely to launch America into a new imperial war in the Middle East.

Also I have heard so much utterly nutty extremist demagoguery from both Sen. McCain and Sen. Clinton and relatively little nutty extremist demagoguery from Sen. Obama. Sometimes I think anyone running for President of the United States are required to prove that they are CRAZY and irresponsible enough - to be trusted.

It is clear to me that Sen. Obama and those influencing and advising him on foreign policy matters are realist and pragmatist, while those advising Sen. Clinton and Sen McCain includes a number of hardline ideologues who are down right dangerous and irresponsible.

I should add that all over the world, this race is being watched. And I'm convinced that Sen. Obama will carry greater moral authority and encourage more good will, by far, than then any other leading candidate

12. Pretty high. When I learned Obama was being advised by Samantha Power,
it made me comfortable in supporting Obama for President.

He's right (and so was Einstein) ~ you can't solve problems with the same thinking that created them.

(Obama first said that about foreign affairs, but of course it applies to ALL of our problems.)

17. It just means that in order to solve a problem...
...you have to look at it with a mindset that's different from the one you had when creating the problem in the first place. In terms of foreign relations, it could mean approaching other countries with something other than Bush & Co's "we're the righteous bullies of the world" mentality.

14. 1. Media 2. Elections 3. Budget (includes FP and funding of the MIC)
Without addressing media and election funding/voting mechanisms, true change will be very difficult to come by.

If we invested a fraction of DoD spending on alternative energy the thrust of our FP would change dramatically and require less of a worldwide footprint. A half trillion DoD budget would no longer be necessary, opening up domestic opportunities. We spend an estimated $250B a year on servicing our national debt- enough said.
