If Elected, Obama Would Become 'The Abortion President,' Forcing Catholics & Evangelicals to Pay
Here we go, the rantings of the extreme Christian clerics begin...

WASHINGTON, May 22 /Christian Newswire/ -- Senator Obama's views on abortion would be the most radical and extremist of any President in history and are completely out of step with the opinions of mainstream America.

Some of Senator Obama's extremist abortion views are:

*
While a state senator in Illinois, Senator Obama opposed legislation which would prevent the killing of infants that survived late-term abortions.
*
Senator Obama opposed the ban on Partial-Birth abortions which the Supreme Court found to be Constitutional. The ban on this barbaric procedure is overwhelmingly supported by the majority of the American people.
*
He stated one of the first things he would like to do as President is sign the Freedom of Choice Act which would radically expand abortion rights.
*
Senator Obama recently said after speculating if one of his daughters became pregnant that, "...if they made a mistake, I don't want them punished with a baby."
*
Senator Obama would make Catholics and evangelicals pay for abortions through his health care plan.

Senator Obama talks about change yet he clings to tired abortion policies that the majority of Americans moved past years ago.

Over the next several weeks leading up to the Democratic National Convention, the Christian Defense Coalition intends to unveil a national campaign exposing Senator Obama's extremist abortion policies and begin to educate Catholics and evangelicals where he stands on the issue.

Rev. Patrick J. Mahoney, Director of the Christian Defense Coalition, comments, "For all his talk on change and social justice, Senator Obama clings to and embraces archaic and radical pro-abortion policies that most Americans find appalling. Simply stated, if elected Senator Obama would be the most radical and extremist President in American history on the issue of abortion.

"While the majority of Americans are growing more and more uncomfortable with abortion rights, Senator Obama wants to radically expand them and even ask people of faith to pay for abortions. Senator Obama this is change we can live without.

"Over the next several weeks leading up to the Democratic National Convention, the Christian Defense Coalition plans to launch a national campaign exposing the extremist abortion policies of Senator Obama, and educating Catholic and evangelical voters how radical he is on the issue. Senator Obama's pro-abortion positions are out of step with the American people and stand in stark contrast to the teachings of historic Christianity and social justice."

13. Within a 5 mile radius of my home in suburban Phoenix
There are no fewer than 6 megachurches. Beautiful building, manicured lawns, basketball courts, daycare, coffee shops, etc., and every Sunday the lots are overflowing with expensive SUVs. All of it tax exempt. Meanwhile, hundreds of homeless people sleep in the park in downtown Phoenix. :grr:

8. Because no minds will be changed here. But as we develop around a candidate, you should know...
...what crap is being thrown at him so you are ready to combat it when your coworker or Aunt Hildy says to you "oh, he's the one who says he will increase abortions."

11. Screw 'em.
I find it funny that the Christian Right is saying this while I've seen the anti-Obama left say just the opposite. Besides, this is how it's going to be for Obama or Clinton or Edwards or any Dem running for president in this country.

These people hate the fact that our party is for a woman's right to choose. It simply burns their little control freak asses.

9. That's right. Obama is PRO CHOICE. Fucking A.
And so are the majority of Americans.

They don't want government in their bodies, bedrooms, and bloodstreams.

18. There are good and bad in all faiths and denominations
I don't think this was intended as a broad brush attack against anyone. It was just a heads up as to what the Christian Right is cooking up against the Dems for November.
