Breaking: House Judiciary Subpeonas Karl Rove in US Attorney Firing Probe
Edited on Thu May-22-08 01:39 PM by VolcanoJen
Breaking on MSNBC now...!!

Update: AP Link

WASHINGTON - The House Judiciary Committee has subpoenaed former White House adviser Karl Rove as part of its inquiry into whether the Bush administration politically meddled at the Justice Department.

Accusations of politics governing decisions at the agency led to the resignation of former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales.

The subpoena issued Thursday orders Rove to testify before the House panel on July 10. He is expected to face questions about the White House's role in firing nine U.S. attorneys in 2006 and the prosecution of former Gov. Don Siegelman of Alabama, a Democrat.

House Judiciary Chairman John Conyers had negotiated with Rove's attorneys for more than a year over whether the former top political adviser to President Bush would testify voluntarily.

28. I think the WH may intervene.
They'll try some bs claim like Executive Privilege and try to run out the clock until after the Elections.

18. To give him enough time to reflect, and then do the honorable thing.
Unfortunately, I don't believe a sword exists that is long enough for that fat fuck to commit Seppuku.

27. That's what makes me crazy! They've already "been in discussions" with Rove for a YEAR about
getting him to testify. So now that they've finally issued a subpoena, why didn't they make it for an appearance
on Monday? Or the following week? No, they give him till mid-July, when half the country will be on vacation (if
they can afford to go anywhere this year)...

What is wrong with them?? Evidently, they have no sense of urgency about this or any other Bush-related item.
Makes me want to scream.

17. Have the Sergeant at Arms ready to go
get him if he doesn't come willingly. I've a feeling that if the Sergeant wished to deputize folks to help him, he could go to Rove's house with a posse of about 10,000, give or take a few.

20. Just don't convict him of anything until next year
After Bush leaves office.

Then, if there's a Democrat in the White House, he gets no pardon.
