Eugene Robinson: "The Clintons don't do moral victories."
<http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/05/22/AR2008052203018.html?hpid=opinionsbox1?hpid=opinionsbox1&sub=AR>

From the end of the article:

Clinton knows that even the disputed delegates she "won" in Florida and Michigan won't get her to the magic number she needs to win the nomination. Some commentators have speculated that she wants to have the votes counted simply so that she can semi-plausibly claim to have had more popular support than Obama, a distinction that would serve her well if she ran again in four or eight years. I say dream on; the Clintons don't do moral victories.

Hillary Clinton is after the White House, and if that means using the Florida and Michigan "issue" to tie the party in knots until the convention, so be it.

If that's not what party leaders want, they'd better do something. Because Clinton is going to keep moving forward.

1. Yes, that is the road and options ahead.
Too bad many voters have been taken in which makes things difficult.

5. I am VERY glad Hillary is fighting on, with all the methods available to her.
I do not want obama as the Dem candidate, by any means. I'll not vote for someone I did not even know til 12 months ago....and who has the thinnest resume....and indecisive, misleading 120 PRESENT votes. He's never held a meeting for the ONE committee he chairs---oversight of NATO and thus Afghanistan.
It looks to me like the man hid under his desk in Congress. His preaching change exactly like w did is discusting. He doesn't represent me. Go Hillary...take it to the Convention. Politics is no Tea Party if you want to win. See www.attacktimeline.com for the actual nasty campaign.....obama's.

8. Clinton Voted To Attack Iraq
Most Congressional Democrats voted against war - Clinton voted for war. The single most important vote in decades, and she got it wrong. She should be fired, not elevated.

And her support of job-obliterating NAFTA and almost-free trade with China... the first bankruptcy bill... cluster bombs...

22. Do you know how many votes Obama cast in the Illinois
legislature? Over 4,000. Do you know that voting "present" is their way of forcing both sides to negotiate when the bill is fairly good but has some substantial flaws that need to be resolved? And you obviously don't know that the subcommittee he chairs has nothing to do with Afghanistan.

And since you will not vote for the democrat in November, welcome to ignore.

Before they could do a moral victory. This election really opened my eyes about the nature of these to detestable people.

9. Ha! Ha!
from editorial >

Now, maybe rules aren't rules after all. Keep moving forward until you drop. In a speech Wednesday, Clinton evoked the Declaration of Independence, the abolitionist movement, the civil rights struggle and the campaign for women's suffrage as she demanded that the votes from two unrecognized primaries be counted.

"Over the top" is an inadequate characterization of the speech Clinton gave in Boca Raton, Fla. She spoke of "a shared civic faith . . . equal justice under the law . . . extending the frontiers of our democracy," and even the men and women who "knelt down on that bridge in Selma to pray and were beaten within an inch of their lives."

"Now, I've heard some say that counting Florida and Michigan would be changing the rules," Clinton said.

Yes, it would be.

their credibility and respect by behaving like sore losers, brats, and worse. Now Bill Clintons is hinting that they want the vp spot! That's beyond Chutzpah.

observations so far and that's what frightens me. It does appear that we're going to the convention, unless the supers intervene. :-(

so she keeps playing her game.

She doesn't care if she destroys the party. If she can't have it, nobody can.

That's the very definition of a psychotic narcissist.

19. So what happens if they top Obama off yet Clinton won't concede...
then she takes it to the floor of the convention. How does she expect the same people who did not support her before to all of a sudden be on her side? Even if Barack faces tough attacks, would they really change the presumptive nominee on the floor? Does Clinton honestly think she could win at that point? That would give John McCain a huge advantage. Doesn't she know that she would be despised by the democratic party if this happened? Doesn't she know that she would never be allowed to ever be a serious contender for the democratic nominee. I just don't understand their logic. I do believe they are trying to take it to the floor though. Mainly because before her advisors were saying that 50% would be fair. Now they have changed their mind. I think it is so they will have an issue to take to the floor as Eugene says.......

23. I guess it's an irrational power play...
But, as much as I wish she'd gracefully step aside after June 3, I think Rachel and Eugene are right. Clinton's speeches in Florida this week are pretty telling.

Edited on Fri May-23-08 09:01 AM by Tatiana
Like Rachel says, people need to start listening to what Hillary ACTUALLY SAYS.

She really believes McCain would be a better president than Obama. She said it and she meant it.

She really believes that the "white working class" voters are the Clinton victory ticket.

She says Obama "can't win" and she truly believes this because she knows all the forces that are out plotting to stop him.
