Truth: "Rabid bases" win elections
Reagan's rabid base won it for him, and Obama's rabid base will do the same.

Trust that the rabidness of Obama's supporters will reel in most of today's Hillary's supporters within the next few months, and all will be well in November.

2. Only insofar as they get others to the polls.
The fringes of either party do not make up nearly enough to win an election on their own. This is very, very consistently shown through polling.

5. True for midterms, not necessarily true in General Elections.
The turn out in the General is high enough that it is the swing vote that matters.

6. But who will work the phones? Canvass neighborhoods?
Surely not swing voters.

11. In a mid term that type of GOTV effort can make a huge difference
perhaps even up to a 2% swing with an extremely effective GOTV effort (in a primary this can even be more dramatic.) In a General Election there is a far higher turnout and GOTV efforts and organization are less important then public perception and the ability to capture more of the swing vote.

7. They also ensure that nothing gets done after the election as well when their chosen...
candidate screws up while in office. They will support said candidate no matter what.

8. Is that why you're imitating the religious right?
The assumption that Hillary's supporters are weak and easily bullied into position is an insult of the highest degree.

In the long run the religious right pretty much destroyed the republicans. Is that what you really want the democratic party to do as well...

9. "Reagan's rabid base won it for him, and Obama's rabid base will do the same."
Really? Obama is going to get the support of the Ayatollah Khomanei? I thought the Ayatollah died.....Oh, there is another one......

Those Ayatollahs are indeed quite rabid....Ask Jimmy Carter.
