I'm giving Hillary a pass on this one.
I don't think she meant it the way it sounded.

I do not support her, and don't like the DLC or the Clintons much, but on this, I'm going to leave her alone.

1. This is exactly what she is thinking.
She's made too many misspeaks when she's 'tired' (how she was just portrayed on CNN). So when she's tired, she messes up and speaks her mind.

Fuck Her!

Heck - I wouldn't mind being ignored by 2000 irrational individuals, personally.

6. Why oh why is she invoking ASSASINATION as a reason to stay in the race?
It's just wrong. There are so many more historical references she could allude to. Not the shooting of a Democratic Presidential nominee. You shouldn't be so quick to defend her on this.

17. I agree! I've heard it within the last week or two...
I know exactly what she's talking about. She was lying today. I've learned to tell when she lies...just watch her eyes and how she won't look at the person she's talking to.

Everyone gives off a clue when they are lying. Catch them enough times, and you can learn to read them.

Hillary and Bill have had some pillow talk about this issue. Trust me.

This time blatantly speakign of his death as a reason for her to stay in.

She is begging for one of her rabid loonies in Appachia to do him in.

I swear to God she's beggin for one of her racist fuckign followers to kill our nominee!

She has show an incredible ability to blurt out ridiculously stupid things when the cameras are on her 24/7 - and they would be if she was in the White House.

11. I think people are overreacting to, but her comments were insensitive, if nothing else
I've gone canvassing in black neighborhoods and met older black women who say they pray for his safety...I've met people who are afraid to vote for him because they are afraid he'll get assassinated. I am not going to accuse her of having a malicious motive, but at the very least, her comments were highly insensitive. Not to mention using Teddy's illness as her excuse when she sought to qualify her statement...pretty tacky.

than Jesse Helms' cryptic warnings to Bill CLinton not to come down to any military bases in North Carolina (or the south)?

Not ever. She raised the spectre of RFK deliberately, with malice aforethought. She's staying in the race "just in case" Obama gets - you know.

15. At a minium she has used one of Democrat's saddest days for her own
political gain. How else can you explain it?

That is enough in my opinion to not give her any pass.
You would not give such a pass to Huckabee why does Clinton deserve one?

I wonder how the Kennedys are taking this right now :-(

He just said something stupid, that was all. He doesn't really want Obama shot.

The Huckster is a well-meaning guy, and I really believe that he's a principled human being. I disagree with his stances, but I think he was refreshing compared to the rest of the republican candidates.

27. I'm not. I expect candidates to frame their public statements with greater care.
She already alluded to this history in April and it was criticized as insensitive. Her remarks today constitute a blunder of epic proportions. I would usually reach for a fail graphic in response to a political blunder, but this one is not a subject for humor.

Just the other day we heard sad news about Senator Ted Kennedy. Earlier this spring we commemorated the death by violence of two American icons from 40 years and remembered a third from 45 years ago. The shadow of these deaths hangs long over the campaign. To mention RFK's assassination in the context of political strategy is deeply insensitive to me. I don't think I'm alone in holding this opinion.

she is running on the basis of her vast "experience." This is the third time she has brought up Bobby's assassination, and this time she made it a bit more clear.

It isn't a gaffe - and if it was, it lays bare the falseness of her claims to being the more experienced candidate - she shouldn't be gaffing like this if she was. Sleep deprived when she lied about Bosnia and sniperfire, just trying to mention other runs that went into June, like Bobbys - well, there are others she could mention without bringing up his run at all. She wants to Obliterate anyone in the middle east who screws with us. People who make statements like this have previously been associated with the republican style of doing business.

If I vote for a democrat, I want the person to be a democrat. And for god's sake, we have the democrat's democrat, Teddy Kennedy, BROTHER of the dead man she keeps mentioning, who is actually dying as we speak. If nothing else, references to Bobby's assassination are completely inappropriate, and not worthy of someone claiming vast experience in all presidential matters. It is just cruel on many levels to keep doing this and upping the ante each time.

32. Think in the middle
No, she wasn't totally innocent. And no, she wasn't encouraging racist supporters to take him out. But yes, she was using Rovian politics to whip up fear in the black community.

She could have mentioned the OTHER life-changing event that happened to RFK that day to make her point clearly. But instead, she said assassination. Do you think it was just a mistake?

33. In a primary that's being followed more closely than any in history,
she needs to know how things can get interpreted. At the very least she's capable of that. Just like it wasn't smart when Obama phrased his critique of Penn voters as clinging to religion and guns, it provoked a backlash that he had to pay for. She will have to pay for this, right or wrong, that's how it goes here.

But it is curious that she mentions her only shot of nominee is if something really bad happens to Obama. She probably didn't mean it that way, but she's surprised me time after time in the gamesmanship department, so who knows?
