Hillary's RFK comments have knocked McCain's strange medical release from the news...
Lets face it, the race is over, so whatever we think of Hillary's comments, they really don't change much. Personally I don't know whether Hillary's comments were the result of a poorly worded statement, or an indication into her hope that something, anything might happen, so I choose to believe the poorly worded statement.

That said, the real problem here is that its completely knocked McCain's strange medical release approach off the table. In 2001, McCain fully released 1500 pages of medical records and left them for everyone to peruse. This time, he took a pool of reporters who did not have in-depth medical knowledge, and is only letting them "look" at the documents, but will not let them photocopy them.

Why, we have to wonder, has McCain put these restrictions on access to his records? Why did the NY Times medical correspondent get banned? Yes, he apparently has a clean bill of health at first blush, but perhaps not if someone gets a chance to truly study them.

I dunno, but with the MSM going after the Hillary assassination comment, it no longer matters. McCain has already gotten his medical records off the front page.

So yeah, Hillary's comments have hurt the Dems, but perhaps the real damage is the lack of focus on his medical records.

3. My understanding is that McCain isn't leaving his records open for perusal...
So lets say we focus on this 3 months from now and want to go back and check. Will McCain let us?

4. NO candidate for President will ever submit to psychological...
testing. Remember Thomas Eagleton?

Just sayin'. I know you were kidding. :)

8. If you talk about his age and health, aren't you really talking about the possibility of his death
in office. And this time, it would be an explicit conversation, rather than the imagined one the media hacks are creating for Hillary.

9. Given that there is no requirement to release medical records
I find it odd that he released them at all. I'm not sure I agree with you on the audience. There were medical professionals that viewed these documents including dermatologists who were interviewed on the news about their opinions all day long (even CNNs Dr. Gupta was part of the list and voiced his opinion of the documents that he read).

Still, there is something odd about all of this. It seems as though he is trying to 'head off' health concerns but a release of this kind raises more questions than it quells. Habitual Ambien use, skin cancer (and that scar on his face that every time I see his face, makes me think cancer), colon cancer issues, prostate issues, arthritis issues, etc... I mean, gawd, it's 1200+ pages!! That's not a medical record, it's a medical encyclopedia!!

10. I hope that Mr. Axelrod is proud of himself.
He has turned a non-issue into an issue.

And an issue into a non-issue.

11. Yep, we've got to keep focus. Although I do understand some people's feelings on this..
It's got to be McCain time now. The more we address him the better our chances overall.

12. I do find it utterly bizarre that the MSM could look at that and say "nothing to worry about"
It sounded like a shitload to worry about!

And this is not at all the same as saying "well, Barack could be assassinated."

That is planning for the most vile and violent deus ex machina- speaking on McCain's health is imagining a scenario with no dramatic OUTSIDE interference, but really questioning whether someone with his health concerns doesn't have a certain set of concerns that voters should at least consider.

I plan on trying to assemble the full available breadth of information available on McCain's conditions and asking my father, a prominent physician, to tell me what he thinks of McCain's health prospects.

13. The conditions placed on reviewing his medical
records make me think that there is something in there he would rather we not know about. It's more of the secretive, none-of-your-business shenanigans that we have come to know and hate in the current administration. Full disclosure, only not. Stinky smelly.
