I am fascinated with Obama's trip to Florida. Almost the first thing he did after getting the inside track to the nomination was the address Cubans in Miami and the U.S.. As you know, he said he would consider talking to Raul Castro, when Obama determines the time and place is right. He said he would allow ex-pats to visit and send money to their families.
That took some real guts. What do you think the reaction will be in the Cuban community there? I know just a handful of Cuban Americans. They all have moving stories and are on extremely different points of the spectrum concerning the U.S. relationship to Cuba. I
Will Obama finally break the Republican dominance in some areas of the Miami Cuban community by, essentially focusing on this as his first major general election initiatives? Or will it backfire on him?
Cuban Americans, Miamians, students of recent history, I would love to hear from you. It would be enlightening to hear your gut feelings and anecdotal stories rather than relying on the MS media.
Serious comments, please, the Drudge type of threads are a dime a dozen out there.
