Barack Obama must apologize
There has been a precedent set already, and I would appreciate it if Senator Obama would get with the program, already.

When Dick Cheney shot hunting partner Harry Whittington in the face that cool February day, Mr. Whittington immediately upon partial recovery, apologized to Vice President Cheney for causing him such trouble.

Senator Obama, you must apologize to Senator Clinton for the uproar you have caused by not saying it was your fault that she was forced to not apologize to everyone for not misunderstanding her. She had been getting away with the reference for months now, and is quite put out that she was forced to take responsibility for her words.

Mr. Whittington eagerly awaits your announcement.

37. that is what an older Jewish woman said in Florida
If he name was Barry and he was biracial, the people that she knew might vote for him. Of course, her son-in-law had just said he would vote for Barack and it thought it was great for the country to have someone different for president. He was a senior citizen also.

"It's not easy being green." is all I hear when people say this type of thing. I guess some people are too old, stuborn, or just stupid to change their ways of thinking. I say this knowing that I have close relatives in this catagory.

39. I have black relatives, who will not vote for him, because they don't think black people should
be running this country.

I forgive them, because I understand they think that based on their personal experience with the ignorant black folks they keep around them.

I had to point out to her that Barack was raised by whites, there fore he is really a darkskin white guy. That set them at ease, alittle.

40. I had someone tell me that
the reason that the Black guys at the college liked my daughter was because she was a "yellow skined gal". Tell them that and see it that helps. ;)
By the way, my daughter hated being called that, so it does not get repeated around her. She is proud of her multi-racism (both of my kids are) but she felt that term was racist even if it was said by a Black woman teacher.

44. I have heard of the term.
My kids are multi-racial. We have no idea how many groups are represented. I know that I have European and American Indian in my ancestors. Their father is from the Dominican Republic, and that is a true melting pot when it comes to groups mixing. There is a history of the population trying to whiten through marriage. (I did not know this when I married him) that is one reason, I believe that he married me because my complexion is very light and he did not realize that my mother was not as light. When my children were born, he was disappointed that they were not like me, I was thrilled that they were not. ;)

He had a cousin that also had two children and they were blond and blue eyed. Both parents had dark eyes and dark hair. The people use to tell me that I should trade them children. By the way, from what my children and I can gather his heritage is European, Caribbean Indian, and African. There could also be Asian and/or Middle Eastern, there is just no telling. His family (siblings)range all the way from blond to black hair, fair to dark complexion. My daughter looks somewhat Asian/Latina and my son looks Middle Eastern/Latino. Every time there is problems with the Middle East we fear for his safety here.

My oldest son doesn't appear to be black at all, he has blue eyes, bone straight dark blonde hair
and NOOOO RHYTHME
I sometimes I worry about him because, I think racist would be madder to see a kid who looks 100% Anglo Saxon but has a black mother.

He is 6 I tell my friends when he runs for president I am going to stay hidden until after is first 100 days in office. then I will come and say SYKEEEEEEE He's with me ha ha ha ha

We just have to pray for our Kids and trust God knows what he is doing!

Since I have the reverse situation, I understand exactly what you mean. We have faced some scary situations because of this. Mine are adults now. I live with my daughter, and my son is on his own. My daughter takes me every where I go, and sometimes we get these really strange looks, and I will explain that she is my daughter. The reason: some people think that we are lesbians and she is my very young partner and that I (as a white woman) am taking advantage of her. It is so funny, and embarrassing for her.

I had a college professor that was bi-racial, and her children were dark, light, and white. She said that when they brought her the youngest son, she thought they were bringing her a white baby to nurse. She was insulted, but did it in the hopes they would then bring her her own baby. She said, "Imagine my surprise when they told me this was mine." She also said that people often thought she was the babysitter for her youngest two. Her children, of course, are around my age now but you and your little boy reminded me of her and hers.

I was always asked where I got my kids, and I didn't get offended as long as it was done nicely. I always said that I got them the old fashioned way, through birth. I didn't think to (or was embarassed to) tell them through sex. ;) My daughter said that she use to hope people thought she was adopted because she was embarrassed by her dad. I don't think her embarrassment was based on race, it was based more on his behavior. He was, and is, a little different sometimes. Man, is love blind and when you fall out of it, it is too late. :P

edited to fix a smilie.

53. Once there was this woman..
Who went down the entire list of possible connection I had with my son.
She said,So you nanny?
I said, No.
She said, Oh so you are just doing a friend a favor?
I said, No
She said, Oh so you adopted
I said, No
It was about this time my son got hungry and need to be fed.
You should have seen the look of utter disqust at herself and her ignorance, when I whipped out my double D's and started feeding my Son.

She screamed, "THAT'S YOUR BABY, OMG! OMG! I AM SOOOO SORRY, BUT BUT HE'S SO WHITE!!!

I said, "I know I guess whiteness isn't limited to only "white" people any more, lucky me!"

I love telling that story!

We did have an inccident somewhere in NC, we stopped for gas and food, and there was this guy who would not stop staring at us. He left before we did, my husband didn't notice, he never notices when people are watching us, but I pay attention particular if we are in unfamilar territory, we live in No VA most people don't care around here. Anyway, we get out side I get in the Van and my husband puts out son in his seat then goes to back of van to get something.

When he gets back in the van is bright red, and really pissed, I was like what happen, he said this guy in black truck just trif to run me down!

Can you imagine, someone who sees us in a gas station in the middle of no where, who will never see us again in life, decides my husband should be killed, I am glad Obama kick Hillbilly's butt in NC as good as he did, but I don't go to NC Unless I have not choice. And my mother lived there for 3 years, I never went to see her, she had to come to me.

60. We have towns like that here
The town that I grew up in is like that, and it is probably the least in the county. I brought my kids back there thinking it had changed, but I was wrong. I became trapped there because my ex would not leave the area. In fact he still lives there. When he comes to visit his daughter, he will complain about the names he gets called by strangers and his new family, but I don't have any sympathy because he has lived there for 27 years and he can leave anytime he wants. He has NY, GA, and DR to go to. It was his choice to stay in that place.

My kids and I do not go back there to visit relatives except for rare occasions and it is less than a hour from here. Of course there are other places close by that are as bad if not worse than it. My son recently had to go back to my home town for his job, he had someone scream at him that they hated people like him. Now was that because they thought he was Middle Eastern, Black, Latino or what? I have no idea. The funny thing is that he grew up in that town, we left when he was fifteen. Both of my kids carry emotional scars from their time there. Of course my marriage didn't help in that situation.

My marriage was really bad. It was not because of it being a "mixed marriage", which other people like to blame. It was because he didn't want to be married and I did. Funny thing is, my ex was lost without me taking care of him and he quickly remarried. I cannot trust anyone enough to let them have any control over my life, so I never remarried.

And yes, I can imagine someone doing that. When I lived in NYC, there was a grocery store I use to go to because the prices were lower. My daughter was about two, and I put her in the shopping cart seat. There were shoppers there (I will not say what ethnic group they belonged to) that would ram their carts into mine trying to hit my daughters hands. The first time it happened, I thought it was an accident. The second time it happened, I knew better because the blows were too deliberate and hard. I had to keep my hands over hers to keep it from happening again. I quit going there and was happier for it. There was also a woman from this same group (I didn't know her from Adam) that told me one day (on a NYC street) that I should have died before giving birth to that (my daughter). Where I lived then now been taken over by Chinatown and I would like to go back and see if the climate has changed.
I loved Chinatown when I lived there and spent many of my days there. Was treated good there.

52. Obama's got lots of 'splainin' to do.
First, he runs the most organized, brilliant campaign in political history when, in fact, he should have gone bust in early February. He's got the largest donor list in memory which goes to show just how greedy the guy is. Then there's Harvard Law Review - he's just rubbing it in the face of the rest of us with average intelligence and average achievements. As for his speeches, if he had a shred of humility about him, he'd fess up to not writing them . . . or the books. He's got to have a ghostwriter hidden somewhere. Come on, pal. Start apologizing. And lose that smile on your puss, too.
