A woman I only casually know (our children know each other) began bitching this morning at the bus stop about McCain. She expressed extreme disgust that the Republican party would nominate someone "so incredibly liberal."
I had to stifle some giggles. I asked her who she voted for in the primary and she spat out, "HUCKABEE." And added that he would have been GREAT, a GREAT president, but no one appreciated his greatness. I swear to God, she nearly teared up saying it.
Then the part that really gave me pleasure: "I'm just staying home on election day, screw it." I empathized, saying it's tough when there's no one you want to vote for on the ticket. I did not inform her of the option of skipping the presidential race and just voting for the down-ballot races.
She revealed herself to be one of the few remaining rare specimens of Bush apologists! She claimed he would have been great, too, had "everyone not torn him down for the past eight years." (I think I unconsciously moved a couple of feet from her when she started in on that.)
Ah, I love it. She can't stand McCain. Even the mention of his name made her boil. I lost the last part of what she said, because the bus showed up, but it was something about how McCain is going to pull the whole Republican party to the left.
That's right, stay home! Hee.
