We deputized 40 people to register people to vote tonight at the NEW Obama HQ in Madison
Edited on Wed May-28-08 11:45 PM by zulchzulu
There's a new office for Obama in Madison focusing on the General Election and there was a grand opening tonight. The place was jammed. Lots of food, drinks and a nice patio view outside when the crowd got to be too full. We are looking past the primary season and moving hard into the General...

Many people showed up for the Grand Opening and about 40 people were deputized to register people to vote. In the past, you could get deputized to register people in only by city or town. This year, you can register ANYONE in the whole state. The Get Out The Vote effort is really rocking along nicely and people from all stripes are getting deputized and going back to get people registered to vote.

Some of the people getting deputized to register people to vote

We had news coverage and the 10PM news featured the event. We had more coverage from local newspapers as well. I'll provide links when that stuff is available online.

GOBAMA!!!

This is what the campaign should be concentrating on.

3. Great Job! Make sure to host tabling events at summer festivals.
They always attract a lot of young people and are a great place to register new voters! :hi:

7. Absolutely!
We have an Obama table at the Farmers market in Madison and there are a number of big events happening this summer where we will be...

Here's about last Saturday:

15. Excellent. Us volunteers are funding a table at our Juneteenth Festival.
The cost was steeper than other summer festivals around but we believe there will be many young people not yet registered. After that, it seems there are events almost every week.

I did voter registration w ACT in '04 and much prefer festivals over door to door. You get more registations in a much shorter time. Keep up the great work up North!

6. Our New Headquarters Opens In About A Week!
I just got the message yesterday. Our county is going to be tough, Obama carried it in the primary but it's one of the reddest counties in the state. I look forward to the challange though.

14. Hehehe! That was the only "serious" moment of the evening
There was a Voting Registration official that was there to do the mass deputization, which actually is filling out some forms, dealing with some fairly painless legal info and then having people form teams to go out into neighborhoods that need to have people registered and ready to vote.

What a cool collection of people too... I can't wait to see how they do in their efforts.
