I think the McCain camp is trying to set Obama up (re the challenge to visit Iraq)

McCain keeps challenging Obama to return to Iraq and have a look for himself.

This doesn't make sense on the face of it. McCain made an ass of himself by claiming things were fine on the streets of Iraq, only to wear a helmet and body armor and be escorted by a dozen troops with choppers flying overhead to protect him.

Why would McCain want to see Obama in Iraq, knowing the same protection will be given to Obama, and the same image of an unsafe Iraq will be portrayed through that image?

Why, John McCain? Why? It doesn't make sense. How can an Obama visit to Iraq help your campaign, John?

If Obama visits Iraq before the election, he needs to have complete control of what he wears and how he wears it. I wouldn't put it past the military to try to make him look ridiculous, with cameras purposely posed to start snapping as soon as his costume is just the way they want it.

6. I was just wondering what the troop response would be to Obama. Don't know.
Are most troops wanting to come home? You would think so. Still I too wonder about McCain's challenge.

7. There was a report a few months ago that Obama was getting the 2nd highest in contributions
From troops stationed in Iraq. Ron Paul was no. 1. Very telling that the top 2 are against the war, don't you think?

3. You don't wear "costumes" on Iraq visits...
you wear body armor (unless you're claiming its perfectly safe), and Obama couldn't end up looking sillier than

5. You don't seem to get what I meant by "costume"
Of course you don't wear a costume. But that's what it would look like if the soldiers outfitting him are pro-McCain. My use of the word costume was to point out how the wrong perception can be forced on a candidate.
