Blame? Clinton need only look in her mirror
http://www.signonsandiego.com/uniontrib/20080529/news_lz1ed29bottom.html

Hillary Clinton has many things to be proud of in this presidential election. But the way she and her supporters have chosen to end her campaign is not one of them.

When Clinton ran for president, she made history. Never had a woman run who had a real shot at winning and who started the race as the odds-on favorite. She ran a good campaign, and she had a solid organization. And no matter what happens, as Barack Obama has said recently, Clinton has forever changed the rules for female presidential candidates.

-snip

But what a disappointment it is to see how Clinton and her supporters have behaved of late.

It's not just that Clinton made ghastly comments to a South Dakota newspaper about how she is staying in the race because stuff happens as late in the presidential calendar as June, and then brought up that it was June 1968 when Robert Kennedy was assassinated in Los Angeles. Or that she has once again, in recent days, argued that she is the only Democrat who can beat John McCain in November when it was just a few weeks ago that she said during a debate on ABC News that she was sure either she or Obama would beat McCain.

More troubling is that the Clinton endgame seems to be all about blame. Hillary and her supporters are doing everything they can to pin the impending demise of this historic presidential campaign on – you name it – the media's infatuation with Obama, the Democratic National Committee's refusal to count delegates in Michigan and Florida and anything else they can think up.

So, Hillary is:

The victim of a "cover-up", according to Bill.

The victim of a secret campaign that bullies and pressuress DS's to declare for Obama.

The victim of "sexism" at the hands of a misogynistic 4th estate AND 'some' other un-named sources.

The victim of the FL and MI's flgrant violation of the DNC rules resultant in those states potential loss of any and/or all delegates.

What nonsense. What an offensive, and disempowering, rewriting of history. When things don't go as planned, it's always appealing to portray yourself as a victim and lay blame elsewhere. But, ultimately, there is only one person responsible for the fact that Hillary Clinton does not appear to be headed to the Oval Office, and that's Hillary Clinton.

And so... (yes, yes, HRC supporters, I know the Goddess of Peace isn't actually responsible for anything) who or what else is really to blame for Hillary's failed campaign?

I mean really...

6. Can't you Obama supporters wait until after the election
to start blaming Hillary for his loss?

We know, he's not going to lose. So why bother posting this divisive stuff on DU?

when the site settles down and returns to being the font of useful information that it was before the primaries began.

Until then, let's just say that I prefer to annoy you on YOUR dime!

The hypocrisy is stunning, int it?

Sort of like... oh, I dunno... signing a pledge not to campaign or participate in a primary, and then taking it back?

:yourock: too. ;)

Who the heck would do a thing like that??? Sign a pledge and not honor it?? (or admit that it even exists...)

Who? Who indeed???

Seth is like that sorta cool, sorta boring kid in your class who you'd hang out with if you best friend was busy that day.

Jimmy Falon is like your best pal.

I have no idea why I'm posting this. But I sure miss Jimmy.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=5442479&mesg_id=5442479

She was supposed to have this sewn up ages ago. I don't see what's wrong in pointing out her campaign run has been abysmal because guess what? It has been. Plus, her supporters seem in an anger induced trance with fits of rage and cries of victimization.

Every week we hear something new, but it's the same as the old: she might be able to win given a certain strategy. But by the next week that strategy has failed. At what point do you say, it's over? After June 3rd? After November 4th? I'd think it'd be over by now but just when I think we can finally have an ounce of peace and time to gear up for the big fight, there's a new metric being introduced or a new lawsuit or the Super Delegates or Michigan and Florida... MICHIGAN AND FLORIDA!!!!111RAWR11!!!

If it's not over, then shit fuck damn, how is it not?

I'm sorry but a certain level of resentment is starting to sink in, and I don't think it's misplaced. Had she dropped out after Super Tuesday, part 1, then the party could have moved on and healed wounds. Most candidates could have, and would have, done the math and concluded any win from that point on is still a loss. And it has been. Granted, there was probably some gain in having the Democrats dominate the news cycle for a little while after. Then again, it's impossible to say. I'm starting to feel it's disingenuous to keep up these promises as if she's doing people a favor by staying in. She's creating an emotional divide between people who are on the same side. She's losing by the only real metric that matters: delegates. A gracious contestant would bow out with class and start planting the seeds for unification.

This has not happened.

Until then, Hillary supporters need not ask why Obama supporters are so adamant about his win, but why Senator Clinton is so adamant about finding defeat unacceptable.

29. Disagree, she ran an awful campaign
She had very bad advisers and made several massive mistakes. She misjudged the public mood badly; underestimated Obama and then couldn't adapt quickly enough when he proved to have legs; overplayed the "sexism" card in circumstances that had nothing to do with sexism (which detracted from the capacity for her to protest real sexism); overplayed the "victim" card to the extent where anyone could see that, right or not, it was going to backfire and, most of all, repeatedly and provably lied to the public (about Bosnia, about Florida and Michigan).

Ironically, as much as Obama won this campaign, Hillary lost it. If she'd run a better campaign, she would have won (well, duh, obviously).
